Wayne Valachovic?????

I am looking at a knife by Wayne Valachovic.

The seller is stating that Wayne is a ABS Mastersmith but he does not show up on the mastersmith list or in Knives 2000.

Is/was he a MS, any other info would be helpful.
Thanks

I might be terribly mistaken, but I though I read something in Blade long time ago that Valachovic has retired...which probably explains the reason why you can't find him listed in Knives 2000. If I am wrong, someone please correct me...

Yes he was a MasterSmith, and yes he is retired, you'll need to go to Hawaii to visit him, Tom Mayo might even be able to visit and see what he is doing.
His knives are very collectible.

I have owned a few knives by ABS Mastersmith Wayne Valachovic, great stuff! Sells fairly well. Feel free to contact me if you want to see if the prices are in line. Wayne is retired in Hawaii.

Wayne was the man for Damascus folders years ago before it became popular.A New Hampsirite who now shares space with that Mayo guy on an Island somewhere.

An old thread but thought I would bring it back to the top:

I just acquired an older Valachovic knife in a trade. Unsure when it was made, blade steel is forged (not damascus). Slim, clip point blade with cocobolo (I think?) handles. Lockback style knife with a thonghole at the back with a leather thong and steel bead. No mastersmith stamp on the blade so (maybe?) it was made before he became a mastersmith. As old as this knife is the blade has zero play in the open or closed position and locks up rock solid, a testament to its maker. I have Wayne's address and telephone number on the Big Island. Does anyone know if he is receptive (now that he is retired) to being contacted if I wanted to find out some history on this knife (when it was made, etc)? I'd love to send it to him and have him check it out and give me a brief profile of the knife.

Mahalo!
