I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie at the OKCA show today. He is a real gentleman and I consider him a friend. Here's my haul. Respectfully, Chance.image.jpg

Nice! Yes, Charlie is one of the pillars of this forum and an all-around great guy! His contributions to these classic knives via his SFO's is enormous.

Hi Chance
What a great day you had those knives look great - can you give us a detailed description and looksee! - meeting Charlie would have been a fantastic highlight- he certainly is a very fine fellow who contributes one-hang-of-a-lot to his fellow knife friends and also to the knife world.
A nice acknowledgement to Charlie so thank you from us for doing so Chance.

Considering that I own 9 GEC's, and 6 of them are Charlie's SFO knives, I would have to wholeheartedly agree. :)

I'll gladly oblige you CAMPBELLCLANMAN! Left the house at 5:30 with two friends who are also knife knuts. Arrived around 8 and and ran to the door. I was looking at Charlie's table unbeknownst to me. He was speaking with other patrons while I eyeballed a Queen canoe. He finished with them and we made our introductions. His table was getting a lot of attention so I quickly made a bid for the Queen. Charlie kindly accepted, we shook on it and parted ways. Then I made my way to the GEC table and gave in to temptation from a viper in ebony. At that point I had reached my pre determined budget limit so I wandered. Met up with my friends and we marveled at each others new found treasures and made for the door. On the last row I spotted the Wards stockman in orange and couldn't pass. Feeling guilty I beat feet to the exit when I was waylaid. Steven Dick from Tactical Knives sat behind a pile of knives, we made our introduction and spoke of a hike I took with his wife's hiking club. I said farewell then saw the GEC Bull Lock, another deal to good to pass. Great day and great people, being able to share it here makes it golden.
Respectfully, Chance.
P.S. I'll get more pictures.

Yes he is, having met him a couple years ago at this very show, I can tell it was a great day indeed!

Those are some great choices, Chance. Sorry I wasn't able to make the show and meet you and some other BF members, but I'll be planning on going next year barring any problems yet unforeseen.

Getting to spend time with Charlie at a knife show ... priceless!

Canada should subsidize the purchases of Traditional sub-forum members for their good fortune in drawing in Charlie to Canada. I think his wife was a Canadian agent sent with the specific task of getting him up there and hanging on to him.

Perhaps Alaska, the Yukon and BC should all succeed and form their own country. There could be a big, traditional knife shop in the capitol building with a special section with benches and barrels of whittlin sticks and the coffee and tea is always fresh. Plenty of apples on hand to peel and cut sections from too. Not only will Charlie be in a position of advisement and authority, we'll see if Jackknife and the Ms. can be induced to move to this new land of freedom and old fashioned ways. The be nice, sociable, and leave folks alone kind of old fashioned with socials, friendly gatherings, and a more laid back lifestyle.

Sounds like a good time was had by all AND you got to come home with treasures both tangible and intangible.
