Ways to make handle more comfortable?

I bought an rc-3MIL last month. i loved the knife, so i ordered an izula and an rc-6 a couple weeks later. I finally got around to actually using my rc-3. I had a few hours to kill so i decided to carve a spoon with it. After about 20 minutes i started getting a blister on the underside of my pinky knuckle. i tried to change my grip, but while i was shaving off the wood, my hand kept falling back into the natural grip on the knife. now, i know the rc-3mil might not be the best knife for carving, but i was hoping to do more with it while out in the field.
it was also my first time actually carving a spoon so i'm sure my technique wasn't the best.

so what i'm asking is, has anyone else run into this problem? is it possible to make the handle less abrasive? or should i just wear gloves?

also, here's the spoon. don't laugh.

Wear gloves or get a job where you use your hands so they toughen up some. You could also and the micarta a little smoother with some 600 grit sandpaper.

i rather enjoy my job so i think i'll rule out finding a new occupation for now. i think gloves is probably the best option with the rc-3 at this point. maybe ill smooth down that corner that rubs up on me. thanks.
