WC Small Starbenza questions

Hello CRK Fam. Well, I sold the wharnie hinderer and all the goodies I had for it and I'm looking to get into something else. I've had several sebenzas from large 21, sm cf insingo, and sm cf inlay insingo.

I've been torn between a small Damascus cf inlay or a small starbenza. The usage of the knife will consist of light cutting tasks. Box opening, packages, tape, light EDC tasks.

The questions I had about the WC starbenza is...

Had anyone got one as of recent (past few months)?

What was the bday?

Old box, or new?

Did it have the WC logo on clip?

Thank you and sorry for the weird random post. Lol.

When you can't decide, buy both. ;)

For your questions:

I don't remember the exact date, but it was mid 2013. Old style box. Yes, WC logo on the clip.

I purchased a new Star-Benza on 12/31/13, it came in the old style box with a birthdate of 11/19/12, I guess they have some old stock. I later purchased a Star-Tac and it came in the new box and had a birthdate that was only 4 months old. Both had the Wilson logo on the clip.

EDIT: That was a large Star-Benza, didn't read your post well enough, sorry.

Well my dude, that's how you solve that.. Lol.

Which one do you use? I'm thinking of just getting the starbenza because then I can get one more knife to add to my small collection.

I'm down to about 3 knives now because I have sold off a lot of my collection (about 15-20 at one point) to help my mother with something.

Hmm, gotcha.

Well I think I'll call before to see what they have in stock for the small starbenza. Closes on weekends though I think.

if you deciding between the starbenza or the damascus inlay seeing those pics above should have you heading towards the inlayed damascus. that is one pretty knife. when they finally decide to have a damascus insingo blade i will be all in

Hello Jeff.

It does make me want it yes.. But I'm afraid to use it. Again, light use.. But at work I open a lot of boxes (not break them down) so I would be afraid the rubbing of the cardboard along the blade will wear down the acid finish.

I have had one about six months, it's one of my favorite small carry knives. Nice grip, and I really like the look of the pattern on the handles and the double silver thumb lugs.

The Starbenza ends up in my pocket more, but I did get the CF damascus to use. Personally, I think the starbenza will look great the more worn it gets. The damascus will look it's best new, but the pride of ownership everytime it's pulled out to use is an excellent trade-off.

I couldn't decide which small sebenza to buy, including a micarta insingo, so I was fortunate enough to get them all to decide myself.

If I could only get one, I'd swing for the fences and get the damascus and use it. You may not have the opportunity in the future to do so, and you won't have any lingering "what ifs". This decision of yours is a good one to have. :)

Grr I don't know!! Lol

Will there always be the Starbenza or the small cf Damascus? Or are any of them "limited" in quantities?

To my knowledge the pattern will not wear away. It might scuff or slightly fade but the design you see is the actual folds of the blade steel so they will always be visible. And I'm sure there would be a way to polish it to revive a dull look

Large WC Starbenza Damascus! You got me all excited now! Bart

You know, funny you mention that.

I had a small cf inlay a while back before they has the Damascus version available, and called CRK and was told by Angela that I can always have a Damascus blade fitted. There is a little wait for doing so, and I think it was a hundred or two.

Well got a starbenza on the way. :)

You're gonna love it!
Got my small Starbenza last week.
It's my first CRK. :)
WC was out of stock, so I had to order from KA.
Came in the new style box, 11-13-13 on b-day card.
Logo on clip.
My wife bought it for me.
She was like, "Are you sure this is what you want? That damascus with mammoth looks pretty good"
I talked her out of it, doh
What was I thinking? lol :foot:
I am still happy regardless.
I will be saving up for more
