WC Star-Tac(Zaan) On the way! What to expect?

This will be my first umnumzaan. I've always been the small SEB guy. I recently owned a small micarta insingo again after being away from CRK for far too long. After I got it in hand it just felt too small for me at this time. I felt that I finally grew up and was in search of needing a large CRK. Obviously I had the 25 when it first came out....the strong detent and sharp lockbar made me sell it to Rich who eagerly wanted it. (Badly) We are like kids in a candy shop here.

It was a big toss up for me between getting a Starbenza, 25, and Star-Tac. The mill work kept calling me. To pivot bushing or not to. Such decisions! A 25 would be perfect. It's better now than I first had....a marriage of a Zaan and 21. The best of both worlds. Hmm Yet I couldn't get the thought of how different an umnumzaan is all the way around. The super smoothness I hear of right out of the box. I couldn't take it anymore and pulled the trigger.

We will see what my first impressions are when I get it on Tuesday. Hopefully the size, harpoon tip and swedge don't deter me from its perfection and usability.

Very nice choice Patrick! ! Can't wait to see your video on the Star-Tac!! And if you're not happy with it I know a guy who is a little obsessed with them!!;)

Congratulations on your choice! The Star-Tac has been my EDC since it first arrived. I hope you like yours as well as I do mine.
 
Congratulations on your first Zaan! I had a Star-tac for a while, I ended up trading it off. It is a great knife and is an excellent representation of Chris Reeve knives. Use it in good health.
 
I need to check out a Zaan at Blade this year. Don't remember seeing them there last year but wasn't looking for them at the CRK booth.
 
I think that you'll be very happy with it.
I have both the regular and the StarTac, although I prefer the looks of the StarTac I find that I like the feel of the regular handle better - most days.
I think that the StarTac feels sharp sometimes under prolonged use, I've never had that feeling from the standard handle.

It can be hard sometimes to pick which one is next or what'll suit your purposes better, so many options !
I think that the next plain knife I'll get will be a Large Starbenza, I liked the small but the Large is calling my name.

Anytime brother! The friendship and emails were worth price of admission. I need to go DOC hunting in Michigan soon.

Amazing! And epic purchase!! Yeah I'm really disappointed a certain company sent me a large 21 micarta instead of the Star-Tac. I guess someone wasn't paying attention.
 

Love it! It's a sheep in wolves clothing. The reverse! The aggressive blade and lines really hide that fact that it's a perfect all around EDC. I have stood back and watched for years doubting id like it. It's pretty amazing. Thanks CRK! Glad to be back and playing with the big boys finally.
 
I have never fallen in love with a knife like I did with my starzaan. It puts my XMs to shame as far as quality. Perfect size, killer harpoon tip, top notch hollow grind, etc....
 
Congrats on your new Star-Tac Patrick!! as you may or may not know.. I love the Umnumzaan in all forms!! (no really) ;)
My newest addition arrived yesterday as well.. I had the Latest Version but did not like the "New Packaging" but thanks to another member here on the forum Ajack60 (thanks again Anthony!!) I managed to get a LNIB in the "Old Style" box!!:D
Now like you I am "Happy! Happy! Happy! :thumbup:
