I just wanted to ask if wd40 was harmful to the powdercoating that RAT puts on their knives. I was thinking of giving my Izula a quick coat of wd40 before wrapping it in paracord, but wasn't sure if the wd40 would eat through the coating.

WD40 is perfectly safe for powdercoat.
I'd keep it off of the cord though. It will start to get on your hands.

Yea. Was just gonna spray it and wipe it off so there's a thin coating on it. The blade I'll just spray with Rem oil here and there after I use it.

WD40 didn't hurt mine but I prefer to use mineral oil. Food safe and won't go rancid.

Why use it at all? The coating will keep it from rusting. I don't understand what oil under the wrap accomplishes.

For the blade and bare metal parts, mineral oil is the way to go.

not on the edge and around the laser engraving. he probably doesnt want the laser engraving to get rusted. better safe than sorry.

+1. Really no need for it. And to dissolve the coating, you'd at least need thinner or paint-stripper. WD-40 can hardly serve as a protective coating, anyway.
