WE 715A with Heavy Action Impossible to Flick

Hi, my name is Frank and I'm and oldie (56), but a rookie collector. I've been using pocket knives since I was a Boy Scout, but only recently have I started to collect nicer blades. Anyways, I hope that it is alright to pose this question here. I looked down this WE sub-forum and didn't see anything related to my issue.

Basically I have a knife which is impossible to flick open. While it is true that I don't have very strong hands thanks to decades of computer work, I have no problem opening many of my other blades. I really don't want to start loosening up the pivot indiscriminately, because I imagine that it could affect alignment. Please excuse the wrong use of terminology and I ask that you gently correct me if I use any wrong terms. I would appreciate help with suggestions on how to properly adjust the knife or if I'm on the wrong board, to please point me in the right direction.

Thanks and take care,

Frank G

Hi Frank, welcome!

You aren’t possibly gripping the lockbar when trying to flip are you? WE knifes are on bearings and all mine are very flickable, but if you are puffing any pressure on the lockbar mid flick then it can become very difficult.

Hi Frank.
As wickettedge wickettedge remarks, you probably put your fingers on the lockbar. This way you press the detent ball firm into its locking position and it will be impossible to open it.
Just adjusting your grip to the way the knife is constructed will solve it. I had a few service requests of this kind and all were caused by the way of holding the knife. Let us know if this solved your problem.
