Uncle Bill: wanted to say how proud I am of your leadership and guidance of this forum. You've given it a direction and purpose that has drawn people in to take a peek and then kept them ( like Joe Conforte ) coming back. With the darnedest smile of their faces.
You're a darneded nice guy who acts as as he believes is right and does not put down those who differ from you in their opinions, but treats them with the dignity and respect due them. In other words, as a gentleman.
Your treatment of customers is old fashioned and out of place in this society. You educate your customers and then attempt to get them what they want. If they don't have a clue, you start swapping and keep swapping til they are satisfied.
Finally you sell your customers a bit of the allure of the orient, of other cultures, of myth and legend. You sell cynical old coots a bit of the wonder of being a kid again, of finding joy and mystery just around the corner. If they've the capacity, the forumites find new zest in life and good friends. Amazingly you also point those of other faiths to excercise the best of their own faiths, and to bond with one another better.
Uncle Bill, they say there always has to be one exception to prove the rule:
In your case it's the the old rule that if you sober up a drunk horsethief, all you end up with is a sober horsethief. You done yourself considerable proud. It's an honor to know you and I'd turn my back on you anytime I could watch you in the mirror. Rusty
P. S.: If I was looking for a guru, I would not want one who lived life effortessly. I would instead look for a guru who made a lot of mistakes so that I could constantly watch him involved in the process of turning the mistakes into wisdom. You don't make quite as many mistakes as I like, but you do a lot of recovering from near fumbles which is another art in itself. Not that I consider you my guru, but when it comes to living life I'll steal good stuff from anyone.
