Might be wise to run ad-aware (free and well respected) or similar software to clean up any nasties.

no its legit, if you have gmail you will see it all the time.

It is legit if you are logged into your account and it is in yellow above the inbox. I just checked mine and both my gmail accounts asked if the alternate email I had was correct.

sometimes if you do something wrong in gmail it will pop up a yellow header with a note. if its not in an email, its in googles programming.
