Last July 17, 2013 I bought a #33 Ivory Conductor, S/N 17 from Boggs. I was my first Ivory handled knife.

Boggs Conductor......

A few months later I was contacted by a forum member who had tracked down Boggs #33 and who had purchased it. He had one and really wanted a matching ivory Conductor for his young son. I had just recently, a new Great Grandson, and being a softy, I sold him my ivory Conductor. He was very grateful and told me so...

Shortly after selling it, I was having regrets. I didn't think I would be able to replace it. Not that many ivory Conductors were made. So I searched for one with Buffalo Horn slabs with no luck.

A few days ago (3/28/14), 2Dead, Trand offered an identical #33 ivory Conductor S/N 34 for sale on the forum. I missed it. It sold in ten minutes. I sent Trand a P.M. about his ivory GECs. I received a reply from him, he told me, he might know were I could find another Conductor. He would try and get me in touch with him. A short while later, a forum member, Chief, John contacted me. He had a #33 Ivory Conductor, S/N 17 that he would be willing to sell.

Chief's Conductor...

To make a long story short, I bought the Ivory Conductor S/N 17 from Chief. It arrived today in beautiful NIT condition along wit a nice handwriten note. It is identical to the one I bought from Boggs 8 months ago.

How lucky can a guy get?

I can only thank 2Dead, Trand and Chief, John, two Gentlemen that grace this forum. They sure went out of their way to help a fellow out and I couldn't be a happier. I also want to thank John for his service to our Country.

This one will stay at home. I don't think I'll push my luck twice.

Tom,

Good ending to a great story. I must agree that there is a plethora of fine individuals in these parts.

I remember that sale thread well, I picked up the #06 White Owl :D

That was my first ivory knife as well and won't be my last.

The thoughtfulness on this forum increasingly impresses me. I've recently been the receiver of a very thoughtful gesture ref a blood red bone #15 Diamond Radio Jack, something I'd been very much looking forward to. Just before it's release unforseen circumstances in my budget caused me to have to let the opportunity pass. Jon_Slider quietly ordered one via Charlie and had it sent to me. I know I was amazed by this gesture and won't forget this kindness.

The many giveaways, the gifting, the help and assistance with knowledge and expertice, are just a part of the brotherhood of this Traditional Knife forum. To have this help in tracking down an Ivory #33 is awesome to hear. That's a BEAUTIFUL knife... :)

Congrats on locating a #33 to replace your beloved Ivory model that you missed.

You are a thoughtful fellow yourself! I seem to remember you gifting an ivory #61 or #62 to a member here, for his 50th birthday I think?!

Lots of good folk in these here parts! Congrats on getting your knife back:thumbup:

Thanks for the kind words. It was a privilege for me to serve in the AF, and it's a privilege to be a member of this forum.

Oh and the conductor in ivory is beautiful. I was also guilty of drooling over the one you mentioned that sold on the exchange.

Tom there are more than a few. The first one mentioned, Boggs is one class act. Not to mention a whole bunch of others. We all are truly blessed to have them amongst us.

As some here have seen I really enjoy my personal 33 and felt like it would be a neat thing if my boy could have one just like dad's someday, but Tom, if you'd have let me know I'd have had no problem getting you your knife back, seeing as how I also lucked into Trand's! :o

It speaks a lot of your consideration that you never tried to contact me about it, and I appreciate your thoughtfulness of my son and "his" future knife, but I do wish you had let me know as it would have been satisfying to be able to return the kindness you showed me. :)

At this rate my boy is collecting a heck of a lot of nice knives and he's only just turned one year old. Heck he's got a custom in queue as well- what's a father to do? ;)

Greg, I sold that Conductor to you in a good conscience with the hope that your son would someday appreciate what his Dad had done for him. I really thought it was a nice idea that you wanted a matching knife for him. We all sometimes have a sellers or even buyers remorse, that was all it was. I sincerely hope that you'll both enjoy them.

I was just lucky to find another one and we all are happy. It worked out so well for all of us. So Greg, thank you for your kind thoughts, but please enjoy your matching Conductors with your son.

My best regards, Tom

Tom
