I just read this, this morning:

Statement by the Family of Charlton Heston
Saturday April 5, 11:24 pm ET

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 5, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Legendary actor, civil rights leader and political activist Charlton Heston passed away today, at the age of 84. He died at his home with Lydia, his wife of 64 years, at his side. Mr. Heston was loved by his two children, Fraser Clarke Heston and Holly Heston Rochell, and his three grandchildren, Jack Alexander Heston, Ridley Rochell and Charlie Rochell.

In this day and age of loud mouthed, classless idiot Hollywood actors, we could sure use more Chuck Heston's, not less! The nicest thing about this obituary that I found is that it doesn't even mention the NRA, not that that doesn't make Mr. Heston all the greater of a patriot, but I expect to see every leftist rag in the country headline his obituary with what they see as his evil participation in a sinister organization.

This instead rightfully pointed out his role as a leader in civil rights in Hollywood. This was a decent, highly respectable man with more common sense than Hollywood could handle these days. We should all be thankful for time we had him with us. I will raise a glass in his honor today and mourn his passing, if I could gather enough of my associates around we would give him a 21 flintlock salute today.

Heck just the night before last my son was channel surfing and I made him stop on one movie long enough for me to hear the line “Get your stinking paws off me! You damned dirty ape!” I think I will also find some great Heston films to watch today.

We have lost another hero and one more of a generation of Americans that will be hard to equal.

............from my cold, dead hands!

(Speaking of Flintlocks) Good post, Kevin. Thanks.

His work with the NRA was but one facet of a
brilliant, multifaceted gem that was his faith, his life,
his love of liberty that was his gift to us all.

I heard about his passing on the 7am news.I'm very sad that he has left us.He was a great, passionate man,who excelled at everything he's done.I wish more celebrities would take a stand on our 2nd amendment rights, instead of the opposite. He lived a long productive life,& will be missed greatly.

Rest In Peace Mr.Heston:thumbup:

Yes he was a fine person, a great loss indeed. Smoke sent, may all find peace and stength from within.

There is no substitute for liberty.

RIP Mr Heston,
I think that I will try to dig up as much of his work as I can get my hands on and watch it as I work at my bench.
I hope that when I am gone people will remember me for my work.

He was a true actor and produced some of the best Bible stories that I have ever saw. He will be missed by a lot people throughout the world.

I never did get to watch any of his older movies (too young), but whomever takes over the NRA sure has some big shoes to fill.
