WE Knife 702DS

It's hard to get a picture of what this really looks like. It's so shiny it picks up a lot of colors that aren't on the knife.
It's a regular 702 except for a hollow ground damasteel blade, torques screws, silver clip, pivot and screws. Some kind of polished ano titanium handle (don't know what to call them, they're not scales, it's integral)
Crazy nice knife.

Oh . . . that's Ti !
Way cool.
In the first photos I thought it was chrome plated or maybe stainless.
Sweet !

So, how does someone land something like this? Right place at the right time or what?

Secondly, what do you do with something like this, safe queen or user?

It's a nice one!

These people are knife makers. My original 702 is my EDC. This is an example of what they can do I believe. Hollow grind like insane. May have to cut a tomato.

I don't like this particular damasteel... it just seems too much like the painted/etched/fake variety. It's otherwise beautiful. Why does it cross the imaginary/fake line? I don't know, but it does.
(maybe related to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley but applied to blades & steel?? ) wow... that now strikes me as a far-out comment

There is no such thing as fake Damasteel. That is a trademarked name of steel that is made in Sweden.
If you are saying visually it looks fake, or think it reminds you of Pakistan Damascus then so be it.
I've handled a good bit of Damasteel and the cheap stuff and lots in between. This is Damasteel I assure you. It's the real thing.
If you simply don't like it...that's A OK by me.
It's still very authentic Damasteel.

The handle is ti, not Timascus. The pattern is from anodizing. I knew WE was one of the best in the world at anodizing, but this along with polishing was a shock to see.
As far as hollow grind, now I have one and the other. Ones a slicer and one is a crow bar. As much as I'm loving the hollow grind, my other 702 has sliced and will continue to slice through all sorts of things.
This knife really shows that WE listens to us and then does something about it. It also proves that they can do it, and more.

The pattern reminds me of the pattern I have often seen in some galvanized steel parts.
I agree, kinda. It's different than anything I've ever seen. There has been a tremendous amount of polishing. It's quite shiny and picks up a lot of colors from the surroundings just like the polished parts of the blade does. They really seem to compliment each other, the blade and the handle. The handle looks like silver or shiny pewter, the blade is more like a mirror. It's difficult to photograph, in person I say this is a winning combination.
If you go back and look at the photo I took on the red car hood that's the Texas 100° blue sky showing on half the blade...hehe
