So, I like a lot of things about this knife. Materials, price point, aesthetics. But what the heck is the deal with the lengthy not-quite-finger-choil thingamajig?

Wow, that design...um...well, it's sure something alright! Really something.

I'd prefer more useable blade myself.

I think it looks great, personally. I wish they didn’t add that slight recurve to the blade though.

Agree, i dislike recurves...different strokes and all that tho.
That choil is for square fingered people i guess.

It's a blade extension, to bring a <3.25" blade up to ~3.5" (so people wouldn't complain about the skewed blade:handle ratio)

Helluva gap between your fingers even if you did use it as a choil.

Something tells me this won't become an all-time classic.

Ahhhh...those of us concerned with such ratios aren’t going to overlook that.

Isn't that the new scope mounting technology I heard about? Supposedly you can get scope rings to mount your 3x9 Leupold or other favorite scope to your knife to allow greater accuracy for cutting, throwing, sharpening, dullening... It is reported to be very versatile. There was a big write up in last month's issue of "Stuff You Didn't Know You Never Needed"

Well, that's another reason I don't like finger choils on blades (or giant ricassos). A 3.45-inch blade with a 3.125-inch cutting edge. That's .325 inches of lost cutting potential. That's a big ol' dorky boo-boo on what's otherwise an interesting design.
