Hey guys this is my first time posting. I am newish to knife collecting and while looking at my new WE wisp i noticed the spine/back of the blade is uneven, almost looking crooked. It seems to be leaning to the left side, not going in a straight line. Is this unusual or an error? I'm not talking about the grind but the un sharpened back of the knife.

Photos would help understand exactly what you mean.
Upload your photos to an image hosting site and post the url to the photo.
Or better yet, use the 7th icon from the right at the top of the posting box.

It looks like the rounding of the spine may be a little asymmetrical. Does the blade center well?

The blade seems centered if it helps i think i am referring to the swedge. It looks a bit thicker on one side.

The angle of your photo makes it a bit difficult to tell how off it is, but in my experience slight variations in swedges, plunge lines, edge bevels, and the like are not uncommon in production knives, even at WE's typical price point.

If it's new and you bought it from a reputable vendor, and it will bug you, you could return it and ask them to inspect the replacement for this issue.

Not unusual for portions of a blade like that to be asymmetrical. Yours does look a bit more uneven than mine though. Personally, I find it nice when there's little "defects" like that which don't affect performance of the knife. Makes it a bit unique and more my own. :)

Ultimately .....
If it bothers you, get a replacement.

Welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your knife!

LOL. No one is buying a WE to be a utilitarian user. The whole sales pitch is the fit and finish. Looks like Ernie ground that swedge.

While I do agree that a person should be happy with the knife they spend good money on, I don't quite understand the comment here. My WE is probably one of my hardest used knives. Excellent build quality and great materials in a non-exclusive knife that is easy to replace if something should happen to it. They are the perfect users in my opinion. My WE is not my favorite knife but it likely is my most used knife.

In any case, the lighting on the pic makes it very difficult to see the two sides of the swedge well enough to tell if it's wonky to me. But my opinion would be to use that knife and use it hard. It can take it, and what will make you love it will be the stories attached to it.

if the blade opens and closes with out rubbing on the inside of the handle, then its fine
if there is no heart-breaking blade wobble or wiggle when its locked open, then its fine
if there is no grinding, gritty, squeaking sound when deploying the blade home, or back again
then its fine --- the more you use the tool the more you will not think about it
but as you mentioned yourself, youre new to collecting, so if it doesn't see use it should matter even less :)
