Ok, Everybody else out there has a nice looking girl to help advertise their products. Why, because it gets guys attention. Now I'm not advocating using some ill clad woman for this, but rather a beautiful tastefully dressed girl holding one of HI best Khukries. Where can such a woman be found to help the cause of the Kamis ? I'm thinking we could put girl and knife in front of a Himalayan Mountain range or in front of a Kami grinding away with sparks flying. I've got lots of ideas but there are some things I dont have access to as of yet, namely a bunch of my own Khukries to use as props. Well, enough rambling.

Mountain Range? Sorry I can't help you. Down here the closest thing we have to the Himalayan mountains is the speedbump in the Kmart parking lot.

Before someone labels me as the hide-bound old traditionalist, let me do it for you - I am. :D I don't mean this as criticism, and certainly not a flame, but a poster girl isn't the way to go. Ruger once published an ad intended to show the spirit of Ruger rifles blended with the western shooting tradition. It was a masterpiece of photographic composition, a beautiful, dark-haired girl in work garb (hat, chaps and canvas coat) with a Ruger rifle at loose port-arms across her lap. She had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen - they tugged at your soul. She was even the real McCoy - the daughter of one of Rugers Montana rancher friends, not an agency model. Point is, I can't remember the rifle, just those eyes. Some things are so bound in their own culture and traditions that presenting them outside those areas detracts from rather than attracts to the subject. Both posters were in the right direction, and the second with the "Moon and Stars" was even more so, no matter how much I like the Hanshee. Anything well done enough to draw a party toward or into the culture, traditions, and (if you will) the mystique of Nepal and its' blade, without modern distractions, is the way to go.
O.K., NOW rant and rave at the stubborn old fart

And for the same reasons.

I think back in the archives there's a pic of an 18" AK stuck into the side of a chunk of firewood surrounded by a lot more firewood lieing loosly on the ground that gets my attention.
The subject is definitely the khukuri and what it can do, doesn't need any distractions.

I'm about as far away from a misogynist as a human male can get, but the only connection I can make between a woman and a Khukuri is the snippet in Howard's FAQ about the woman slicing vegetables with a Khuk outside her house as Howard walked by - he wondered if she really knew how to use it, and then wondered if he could run fast enough to keep from finding out.

Uncle has a picture of Yangdhu holding a huge janwar katne on his web page....problem solved.

I agree with Wal and Yvsa.

So if someone finds a poster girl contendee, send her to me :D . I make a careful evaluation of her qualities that would make her a contender to be a poster girl for HI... and after a few years, I might even take her photograph . You might even consider this.... "Research" of a type (there, I said it).

Now I'm going to go hide out for a spell....

For the most part, a HI poster girl may not be the ideal vanguard of an ad campaign for the masses.

But having said that, I sure would not mind some new Windows wallpapers with khuks and chic.. errr.. delectable young women. Sort of a HI forum membership pack :D

Hey anybody got a pic of that Ruger ad? Purely in the interest of curiousity, of course ;) I gotta see what got Walosi hypnotized...

I'm surprised no one has nominated Lorena, Bladeforums' own celebrated vamp!

Ack!

I'm gonna need theraphy (preferably involving exchanges of money for Khukuris). Isn't posting that pic banned by the Geneva Convention under the rules of warfare?

I'm gonna sleep with the lights on for the next week...
