Everytime I see someone looking at knives I wonder if they belong to Blade Forums. I saw one guy carrying a Benchmade and I asked him if he belonged to Blade Forums. He didn't even know what a forum was. We need someone to make up a hand sign or something so we can recognize each other. Any ideas?

We could scratch our rears while bent over and looking into a knife case. If the other person scratches their rear in return we'd know they are a BF user. Might not want to shake hands after all that though. :)

You got lucky, I had a similiar experience, let's just say.... he beat the livin' snot out of me.

But well recognizable logo will help. I made this one for russian blade forum while ago

Then it may be on cups, pens, pins, T-shorts, tatto, etc.

May be we should start some kind of competition for BladeForums logo?

Thanks, Vassili.

seriously?

How about we just walk about singing "I love knives, yes I do. I love knives, how 'bout you?"

You might get arrested, but I am pretty sure a BF member or two will nod at ya before the cops get there.

Thanks for the laughs guys. However, I'd love something to differentiate the BF members (maybe a tick pin or something, although bald forearms should do as well) ;)

"Empty wallet, supine, rampant on a field of shaved arm hair." (from the BladeForum Book of Heraldry and Soupmaking). Put me down for a T-shirt, XXL.

We have some good ideas here. What we need is the idea where everybody says "oh yeah that'll work".

I will be going to a 1500 gun show in January. I know there will be Blade Forum guys walking around there.

That is a good idea. I had an experience a few years ago where I had purchased an unused Busse Steel Heart (seems like it was a II made right after they started using INFI) from a friend. I paid him what he asked and it seems like it was a little less than what he paid for it new. Anyway, I really didn't have any idea what it was worth. I asked on the Busse forum and here about what it was worth (seems like consensus was in the $500 range), went to Indy Gun & Knife show and was offered MUCH, MUCH less than actual value. One dealer was willing to trade a Mnandi for it and a significant amount of cash. At the time I went, I was hoping to meet up with other forum members. There was no way to identify them. After the attempted swaps, I wondered if any of the people I talked with were forum members. I hope not.

FWIW: I wound up swapping the Busse to Danbo (who I have met and he isn't the picture in his avatar! *grin*) for a couple other knives in what I believe was a fair trade.

I would love to see a BF logo'd sign!! i really like the owls sitting on a knife!

Usually when one finally goes Gold, they are taught the secret handshake. Obviously, the "council" has decided you are still on probation. You must now send a famous known name custom to myself, Danbo, and Ren. You must send some Asian porn to Ryan (pick one, they both like it). And you must supply Glockmann with at least 14 mustache ride applicants. Once you have completed these tasks, we will show you the secret handshake.

;)

Bladeforum members can be recognized by the following:

  • First place they head in a sporting goods store or trade shows are the knife displays
  • Vacant stares while at knife display (look for drool)
  • Pestering clerks to handle all the knifes
  • Identifying knife models by name, blade steel, RC hardness, and liner material - and informing the clerks which models are superior based upon that information
  • Start a conversation about Cliff Stamp
  • Uncontrollable laughter when someone says "Dark Ops".

The guy who has already has a good, somewhat expensive folder on his belt, in his pocket etc, and is standing in Dicks Sporting Goods looking at the knives he's seen about 50 times before that month, and asking to have said knives taken out for him.

That's a BFC member.
