Yesterday I was on a trip to meet my girfriend and her family to enjoy the 4th of July together. I usually make the 2 1/2 hour drive with her but due to work, I went at it alone this time. I had never made this trip and at some points I hit traffic, and others long winding scenic stretches of highways through the more hilly and mountanous areas. As I approached a stretch I quickly realized I was speeding when I passed a police officer and noticiced I was going alot faster then I thought I was. I am not a speeder, and drive a car that would be the opposite definition of a sportscar btw :p I was soon pulled over, and I placed my wallet, ID, cell phone in the passengers seat. The police officer approached my passengers side, and I was confronted about my speed and very proffesionally reprimanded about the importance of driving safely in this area. During this exchange I was pleasantly caught off guard when a comment about me being a Todd Begg fan was made (my phone background was a Timascus todd begg custom) I was like "huh?" and he quickly also said "I noticed you have a zt0561 clipped and a spyderco h1" I was bringing my spyderco as my slicer for bacon wrapped cream cheez jalapenos. We talked for a bit about the Hinder xms he uses on duty and sharpening systems we use, and also about our favorite blades, companies, and steels. After that business was handled for my infraction, and I was on the road again. I was so relieved and pleasantly surprised that I had met another "knifenut" because
other then the forum, I definatly do not come across many others who share the hobby :p Its definatly a niche of a hobby with a small community of avid members. We are out there, we are filing you taxas, scanning your groceries, making your food, fighting over seas, pushing paper, enforcing laws, and doing it all while appreciating the best craftsmanship, steel, and beauty and functionality of owning a great knife. Hell yeah Bladeforums, our members make us great!

Hope some of y'all made this connection too :D

Happened to me the other day.
I happened to be traveling, which means stopping at every single gun, outdoor, recreation store or what have you. Took me 4 stores for the guy at the counter to actually know what he was talking about. 4 stores seemed like a lot - he knew his steels and most production companies. Was relatively unaware of CRK, Emerson, Busse, SR, but really knew his stuff on the general production knives.

Anyways, we had a good knifey chat, and that was that.

Just a rarity to actually hear someone talk about rockwell hardness on S30v -- as opposed to read it on here.

Glad you caught my rendition of the fight club quote, great addition with the pic from the scene also :) Its also ALWAYS a breath of fresh air when you can "NerdOut" and talk knives.
