anyone else ever hear of this. I read an article thats said men loose up to 2 inces by the time they hit 70. 2 inces in height that is

i have lost at least 2" in height to date. i used to be 5' 10" until the late 80's-early 90's i have fibromyalgia which hasnt helped matters any. this one doctor said that i shouldnt have lost the height that i did until later in my life. this was back in 95 when i was 5' 8 1/2" tall and 35 years old. i'll be 47 in a few weeks and along with height, i have lost a lot of weight (due to a collapsed lung back in 94) that i cant gain back no matter what. i only weigh about 110 pounds if that.

That depends on diet, exercise, and when they quit producing testosterone.

BTW they loose manhood length as well...

I was told that the amount of spinal fluid lowers with age because it isn't replenished overnight in the same quantities as during youth (maybe because older people sleep less/need less sleep). That sounds good enough for me.

I remember back in the late 90's, I was able to see my grandfather's USN ID card from back when he was in the service (he was a WW-II vet). He was about 80 when he died and we were about the same height, a "petite" 5'5". The thing is, on his ID, his age was 21 and his height was listed as 6'1"!

What we lose in height we gain in girth, only ten times over. And we don't lose our hair, it just slides down our backs. Less hair to comb, more face to wash. :D Every day I wake up breathing is probably going to be a good day.

You're so right, Dr. Mudd. Every day above ground is a good one. I stopped worrying long ago about hair loss and wrinkling. Two heart attacks and open heart surgery puts a perspective on things. Best wishes. Bill.

Seriously, intense weight training helps. Increases testosterone levels and helps maintain bone density. It can also help keep body fat lower.

Only problem with it is, as I age (I am 61 now), I require a larger number of rest days. A good, intense sesssion can wipe me out for a day or two.

Amen to that, Bill. Only two days ago I had a prescription drug interaction that could have killed me, and it scared the crap out of me and my poor wife! I've been on a blood thinner (Coumadin, or Warfarin, same as rat poison) for several years and my health and blood clotting factor have been stable, but I recently was taking a pill to help fight a fungus infection. Apparently that pill amplified the effect of the blood thinner nearly three times over. I just blew my nose normally when I went to bed (sinus drip) and blood started gushing out of me. It didn't just drip, it ran in a steady stream for two hours until my wife convinced me to stop arguing with her and go the the hospital. By that time I had lost so much blood I was not able for her to take me and I got my first ambulance ride to the ER. It looked like I was in a slasher movie and it was one helluva mess!

So how did you like that roll of gauze packed up the nose?
Had a similar bleeding incident last year and had to wear the packing for nearly 24 hours. Not on my list of favorite things to do.

I’m 65. When I was in my prime, I was 5’ 9” tall and weighed 175. Now I’m 5’ 8” and still weigh 175, but the weight has been redistributed. I used to have a 32” waist. Now it’s 36”.

Unfortunately, my height is not the only thing that has shrunk, but I’d rather not discuss that. :grumpy:

Sorry to hear about that, from now on always have an updated list of what meds you are taking and make sure they are all crosschecked before you get something new. If you are able to stick to one pharmacy they do that automatically.

Coumadin interacts with so many things, I'm surprised when there isn't an interaction.

Well, at least I got the last one whooped! :D
My endo doc just has to keep writing the scripts and I'll keep stickin myself in the leg!!
I don't do too bad on the diet part but the exercise thing just don't work for me! If I could just find something I enjoyed and some people to do it with, like play soft ball or volleyball or something.
