How about wine? There are a couple of pretty good wineries not far from me in Utica (by Starved Rock), August Hill and Illinois River. My wife`s and my favorites are muscato wines, but we were there last Friday, and did a bit of wine tasting at Illinois River. I found a new one I really like, Mad Jack Apple Pie Shots, apple wine with a kick! It`s defineatly not one where you enjoy a bottle at one sitting! Another favorite is Cranberry Snow, only available this time of year, which is why we went there in the first place.

I don't really care for wine but I love meade(honey wine). My wife and like to pick it up from a place that sells it at a local farmers market and they have all sorts of differen types from ones made with berries to oaked types

"Moscato" (Muscat) wine is my favorite. If any of you haven't tried this wine, it's extremely economical and the taste is phenomenal (nice sweetness without being over the top and the carbonation is usually low). You can find bottles for around $6.00 (Barefoot or Canyon Oaks are an example).

I also really enjoy Washington Hills "Late Harvest" Reisling. This one is also full of flavor and economical.

When I was working at a local bar I often drank scotch with the winemaker from an Oregon winery called Montinore. They have some of the best Pinot Noir I have ever tried in addition to some fantastic Muller Thurgau and Gewurztraminer.
They also have a Pinot Noir chocolate sauce that is to die for.

Not really a wine guy, which is a shame since there are many wineries in IL. A lot of times, wine affects me like a strong sedative oddly enough(unlike beer and liquor). I do try wines at holiday dinners, weddings, and such, but never really found anything that suits me.

My beer is for pizza, philly cheesesteaks, burgers and quesadillas. Wine for all other meals.

I got all excited when I saw beer. The only thing I use wine for is to cook. Now give me a big bottle of this and I'm happy.

Hi Stomper -

Not much of a wine guy, but I do like a merlot with a steak if I can't get some Jack Daniels.

best regards -

Wine is too acidic for me on a regular basis though I do add 3 or 4 cups of burgundy to my recipe when making tomato sauce for pasta. Of course, somebody has to finish off what's left in the bottle.

Found these pictures of Connie`s favorite winery, Arrington Vineyards near Nashville Tennessee.

Here`s why it`s her favorite, Kix Brooks is part owner, and did a free concert while we were there.

The Boss and Kix Brooks. He autographed the bottle of wine she is holding, now it`s in one of her curio cabinets.
