I just picked up two ZT-0909's online (major knife retailer), and I've gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. Neither has the monster-strong detent I've heard SO many people talking about. One knife flips okay, but it doesn't fire nearly as hard as I expected. Frankly, my RAT-2 fires harder. But the other fails to even get past 90 degrees at least 90% of the time. I've tried push-button and light-switch techniques, but neither really do the trick.
Now, I get that it's a heavy blade, but I've seen numerous videos of people demonstrating the detent strength by gradually ramping up finger pressure on the flipper tab until *POW*, the blade fires and locks up hard. If I do that, the blade lazily pokes out maybe 45 degrees.
And it's not like there's grit in the bearings or the pivot is too tight - in fact, I can even shake the blade out with one or two good firm shakes. The detent just isn't there.
Any fix, or should this warrant a return?
