Can any of you Georgia hogs let me know what the law is concerning carry in your vehicle in GA.
For example in SC it can be loaded but has to be in a closed glove box or closed center console or in the trunk.
So what is the law in GA.

IIRC, a few years ago, David Brown had his vehicle broken into while at Blade and had several knives stolen. Is it worth it to leave a gun in an unattended vehicle at such a large event?

It was last year at the hotel. I was staying at the same hotel. The knifes I am bringing are worth as much or more than the gun they may get stolen but I don't plan on leaving them in my vehicle and I would feel much safer with a gun on such a long trip.
I did check there it deals mostly with concealed carry I am just interested in the law dealing with transport in a vehicle.the closest I can find is this

"This code section does not forbid the carrying of a loaded handgun in any private motor vehicle by a person who is not licensed, but also who is not prohibited from possessing a firearm, in an open manner and totally exposed to view. For those who are not listed as ineligible for a license (found below in the "Firearm License Carrying section) may also place the gun anywhere inside the vehicle."

Now that can be interpreted to mean that you must carry the weapon in the open if you are not a resident of GA as they are the only ones eligible for a firearms carry license in GA. Or you can have a more liberal interpretation in that if you meet the other requirements except GA residence you can carry openly or concealed in your vehicle.
So I am trying to get some clarification from people in GA about the law and how it is usually interpreted. Not looking for legal advise just general consensus of how the law is interpreted.

Be super careful, the officer said they only take seconds to smash & grab.

The watch convention goers & follow them back to the hotel, if they notice you leave anything in the car they will go for it, takes seconds.

If you take it all in with you, well they may just wait till next time.

Be very careful.

If I was driving I would carry too but I would carry in the Cobb as well. I would not leave anything in the car ever again.

Also the only insurance payment I ever got was a Busse Insurance, those nice people who are family replaced me HOG ASH. They are the best.

State Farm, Extended Stay America, and Budget Rent a car are all tools !!!!!

If you will notice on the reciprocity map on the link above, Georgia does not honor a permit from South Carolina.... So I would say be VERY careful with what you "carry" in Georgia.

Just my 2-cents worth.... YMMV!!

Yeah I know GA does not honor SC permits and I plan to have my NH permit next year but in SC you can carry in your car with no permit as long as it is in a closed glovebox or closed center console I want to know what the law is in GA for carrying in your car with no permit.

The only problem with that is the public gathering law in GA that says you can't carry at public gatherings.

Its legal in GA to keep it in glove box, or console without a permit. It can be loaded.

Thats what the recent NRA papers on the GA law say. I made copies and gave to a couple of friends that doesn't have a permit so they could keep it with gun.

The new GA knife law is the one that has me confussed. It states if the knife can be used for offence or Defence it can't be carried. I've never heard of them bothering anyone over a knife though...unless your commiting another crime, then they'll tack on all they can.

Post the same question on defensivecarry.com, you will get numerous answers.
I asked there and at Georgiapacking.org and did not get a definitive answer so I thought I would try here.

Chiller2 it is legal in georgia to have a loaded handgun in your vehicle as long as it is in a glove box, console, on in plain view without a ccw permit.
