This what I'll be carrying next weekend. Tusker bowie, Ruger Bisley 41 mag. HSM 230 grain hard cast semi wadcutters manufactured in Montana. The holster is the Bandito model made by Shamrock Holsters out of Colorado.

How close do you have to get with the Ruger to kill a hog?

Thanks guys.

This is my first time hog hunting. cddogfan said within 20 yds when using the dogs. I feel confident enough with this gun to take shots out to 75 yds stand hunting.

That's a great looking set-up! Looks like the holster is set for left side carry, are you a lefty? Have you ever used the hardcast bullets on any animals? Best of luck and stay safe.

Have a great hunt and post up pics!
The big Tusker looks great, are you going to try taking a hog with it as well?

I am not a fan of using "man's best friend" to hunt foul-tempered hogs. My strategy was to stalk or try to intercept groups on the move. I prefered a shotgun/sabot slug for my first shot and 00 buck if the downed hog's family/friends wanted to make a stand. I carried a shorter barreled GP100 or SP101, 357 in the small of my back, if I had to drop my shotgun and climb a tree.

Damm Scott that's one hell of a setup, your gonna put a hurtin on them hogs. Have a safe and great hunt and stick one of them suckers with that beast your bringing.

You have to get some pics Scott! Video would be even better! You know you can just easily put it up on your youtube account ;), lol.

Scott looks like you are ready. Friday will be here soon. Looking forward to the hunt and fellowship.
