Wear Knife Right Or Left Side??

The retaining snap on my cold steel trail master folds over one side of the hand guard. Wearing on my right side makes the snap vulnerable to pop open when moving through thick brush.

Is this designed to be carried on the left side?
Is there a rule of thumb what side a bowie knife is to be carried? What about in combination with a holstered handgun? Belt holster? Shoulder holster?

Thanks,
Stone

I'm left-handed. I wear a knife on my right side because my gun is on my left side.

Doubt if there are any rules about where to carry a knife, reckon you should put it where you can get it the easiest. EDC knives for self defense can go many places, I carry one in each front pocket just in case the other hand is not available. Others here have them in every pocket and around their neck! I would'nt be surprised if Brownie even has one in his, well, hidden real well! :p

I am right handed and always carry my knives on the left side. For me a cross draw has always felt more natural. There is no set rule about this however.

I carry a knife on the right and left side. I got utterly tired of having to put stuff down to retreive the knife because it happened to be on the side I was holding the item to be cut on. Now, I have a knife available for whichever hand happens to be the empty one. Always having a back-up for your main blade doesn't hurt either.;)

All the best,

Either or both. I train and am comfortable with each. I personally do not like to carry cross-draw, although I have in the past. I feel that it hinders my speed. Due to a recent injury, I have been carrying on the left.

I've always carried a small folder in my left front pocket. When younger, during trapping season, I wore my fixed blade on my right side. I'm several years older now & don't trap anymore but still have the small folder in my left front pocket and like a Buck 110 in a slightly horizontal canted sheath on my left side for a cross-draw carry. Have no idea why I changed from right to left except it seems right!:D

If I were you, I'd have an upside down kydex sheath made for that Trailmaster! Yeah, that's the ticket! Carry it in a neck sheath! :D

the scary thing is, several people on these forums are going to think I'm serious, and will be calling the various kydex sheath makers for their Trailmaster neck sheaths
