This may be somewhat of a dumb question, but I have a jag that I've been flipping for some time, and it doesn't latch open securely anymore because the metal in the spot that hits the tang pin has worn down. My (dumb?) question is: will the same happen to a BM42 upon frequent use, or is it waaaay more durable? Haven't gotten around to gettin a BM yet...

No! The Ti is much more durable than zamac. If anything the tang pin will wear before the handles will.

The difference between the two is astounding! You won't have to worry at all about that. The Ti will not "smoosh" at all. Go ahead and get one. Shop around and maybe check out the auctions for a good price.

The titanium on the BM42 shouldn't hold many of the same characteristics that steel will.

Clay at balisongxtreme.com has good tips for "tuning" your knife to correct that problem. Here's a link.. Tang pin fix
