Web site is really slow

Hi,
The Bladeforums website is really slow to respond. I thought it was because I was just a registered user and that I would get faster responsiveness if I became a paid member. However, that's not the case. THe site is REALLY slow. THis has been gong on for a week or two. Not sure there's anything I can do on my end. My computers are in good shape. Obviously, it would be a much more pleasant user freindly experience if site wasn't so slow.

The other thing I noticed is that a lot of the for sale posts on the exchange forums don't appear on my computer or my phone for quite a while after they are posted. By the time I see them pop up, the item is already sold. I thought becoming a paying member would speed this up too, but that isn't happening. Any suggestions how I could get those posts to the for sale areas quicker?

THanks for your help,

Noah

Unfortunately, there were some attacks on the forums a few months back, everything was slow too. Membership has no bearing on the speed. I hope Spark can figure it out soon.

it could be your computer. mine kept screwing up and I did a factory reinstall and every thing is running perfect. but before you do that please copy all of your Documents and pictures and anything else that you want back on you computer. other wise unless you have it on some other cd or Removable hard drive you are going to lose it.

Me, too! Hasn't timed out, at least.
It has timed out (Database Error) multiple times for me over the past several days and I have had problems every single time I have posted (asks Leave Page/Stay On Page and then tells me I must wait x amount of time between posts). Every single time I have posted for at least three or four days now.

Glad to hear is it now me also. Getting the same symptoms here also but have no problems with any other websites including forums. I was ready to upgrade my membership, but don't know if I want to now. It has gotten so frustrating waiting 10-15 seconds for every page to load I have to leave and go somewhere else.

I had exactly the same problem a month ago, pages would be slow to load and site chugged along. I went to microsoft.com and downloaded the malicious software tool remover (think that's what it is called) and this is updated once a month. The computer ran slow on some other sites as well.

I ran the tool and my problems dissapeared and the site is fast now.

For the last few days, PMs, Visitor Messages, and some posts have been "choking"-- failing to preview or post. Removing extra code (like url= tags, etc.) and/or seemingly innocuous text seems to help, but in more robust times such measures aren't necessary.

Yeah - I've noticed that if I use a quote in a thread message, it times out today. If I remove the quote it posts OK. Then at times when I hit the "post reply" button, it just hangs - if I wait, I then get a screen that says I must wait 60 seconds before I can post again, but the original reply was in fact posted.

Surprised by this. It's been excellent over here in Europe for many weeks now, maybe less traffic.
