you get more with honey then bull that is not yet fertilizer..
dont know who told me that once
like as not some old goat..

wow >> some folks unhappy…
another cup of coffee First !
of late there seems to be much grumbling by some over ….
factory specials … hummm… I will be nice…

i and many others have asked if we could be given a chance to buy some
of the knives that NORMANLLY would be sold off at the employee store
(( some might be FB some not but they all will have limited run size))
and sold off at the local dog track yard sale style
and no one else but locals getting a
‘XXXXXXXXg’[[ read “dog gone”]] chance to buy any!!!
And the only time you ever see them is on ebay for 4 x what was paid by the locals..

i and others have written several times and strongly ASKED (read begged)
Buck to offer them as a some how so us remote collectors could buy one !!
i would rather buy one as a special even with the FB cut in to the blade!!

Many times I was told that well there could be issues with them that way..
So ..
you order a ‘special’ with a special price and many gota gripe about some thing…
Gee I guess no one including buck is perfect..
We all make mistakes and some times it is a mistake only to a few..
I made the rubber bucky and I knew that it is not great looking thing
It was only a thing that worked..
Had any one had crits on the looks no one would have ever seen another.,.
No one likes to have public exposure and ridicule on things you don’t think that bad but are not as good as you like..:o
As to the web specials and detail high res images of flaws
that in them selves are not enough to prevent selling a good functioning knife …:grumpy:
why do so ?
has no one ever heard that if you have nothing good to say
to keep it to your self?
and i am not saying to NOT say "well this or that was not what i
expected" .. but to bash in any manner is not polite..
after all these are special run price in a way we begged to be able to get
not special ordered customs..
and as to hammering on specials at a way special prices over a little thing

KEEP IT UP FELLOWS AND
WE WILL NEVER SEE THE CHANCE TO BUY THESE KNIVES AGAIN:eek:
like i mean come on guys ..
What would you do if some one put all your dirty laundry
out on the public line here were every one can see your
skives ?
comments?

It's all about managing expectations. The price on those 112s is fantastic but people don't like it when a they see a picture and a description and get something different. Brass instead of nickle silver and all white scales with no character.
If Buck simply presented the product accurately, it would still be a screaming good deal and people would be happy...

If we are going to talk about prices,

I have seen two Bear cutlery knives (made in USA) with beautiful stag scales and NS bolsters for $45. These were new with boxes and sheaths. No they are not Bucks, and I did not buy them b/c I collect Bucks. But the point is, any US factory can turn out nice knives with stag for around $50. These Bears were nice F&F and had stag with lots of bark. They looked very much like a 110, but with Bear stamped on it.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree and hope they keep doing the specials. As someone new to Buck's and really knives in general without the "Web Specials" I would not have any Elk, Water Buffalo, D2 or Paua Shell anything in my box so it was a great way for me to test the waters of something "more" then plain 110/119 that I had seen before.

Have had a couple hurdles but as far handled very well by Buck. Before I found this site and Buck's web specials had a 184, 450 and 2 110s. Since then have bought 16 Bucks including 8 from the Web Special section. Great way for a rookie to get some beyond the basics.

I have restricted access at work and Buck is considered a "weapons" site:grumpy:by this stupid security system so I cant look for sure, but when checking the web specials at home I didnt see anything saying these were seconds or blems. I was under the impression that they opened up a closet and found some leftover knives in which case I would expect them to be top quality. If however it is listed that these are not 1st line production than no one has a reason to bitch.

man that is rough about restricted website at work..but woulda saved me some money!

I asked the same thing when my 118D2 handle and guard had play in it. asked if i was expecting too much and if they were seconds which if so I'd understand and shut my mouth. Was assured they were not seconds and should not have any "defects" and urged to send them back to be made right. So I viewed it as same thing that could happen with any other production knife and they slipped through.

My sentiments EXACTLY.

Being a local Idahoian and going to every BUCK Factory Show at Greyhound Park here in Post Falls Idaho for two years now. I can tell you that they have some COOL "build out's" and a few factory blems but still great steel. At the last one I bought a Rush with a damascus blade only 12 made. Come on man. I couldn't whip out my $$$ fast enough. I bought two. One to keep and one to sell(BuckMaster habit).Still got both! The FB are functional just some arn't pretty....Here is a DID you KNOW: "The BUCK's are kind enough to sometimes send FB's to people in poor countys"....
I personally am gulity to have sold a few knifes on Fleabay as I have a VERY expensive BuckMaster habit(didnt I say that already?). Being the Tactical Buck collector I was excited when in last April at A BUCK Factory sale now over 1 year ago I saw a 890/650. This will be a rare knife so being local has a few advantages :) Dave you can move over here! On the flip side, It was my understanding from the local BUCK Factory Store that ALL BCCI members received VIA email a pre BUCK Factory Greyhound Park list and you could buy some pre show. Hey another reason to join the BCCI.

You know, awhile back I had issue (not with quality) about a couple of knives that I bought off of the web specials page. Long before the big price drops.

I posted my disapointment here before thinking too much or calling them about it and I was ashamed of myself for it later. When I did talk to them, I couldn't possibly have been treated better by their customer service.

I guess that makes me a cheerleader, but that's OK. I've always had a thing for PomPoms.

you and me both ...now..
to answer a personal email i got in public
yes i have sent in a 110 for an issue
i may or may not have sent in more then one..
there was an issue recently i did not like and i wanted to call them on
buck sway can verify this, i did not and it was resolved on its own..

i can agree with having better images or at the least a disclaimer
that there could be some deviation from what shown depending on
supply or other issues on the web site it may happen or may not

and truly yes if i got a knife i did not like would send it to them and ask for
it to be taken care of..and have!
truth be known some times folks here that are not cheer leaders have gotten faster evaluation then i have but then they know me and that i am not worried to be head of the line... most times that is:p,,,

is my post a bit strong... yes...
we are discussing our knives most times and not using the forum as a
station for lambasting the company or something we dont like..
of late i feel i can not open a thread with out some one belly acing
on this or that... and i do relies that many times what ever it is,
that is not to some ones liking is important to them..

but bad press is not some thing to keep digging in to
sooner or later buck could have a why try to please them
it only bites us in the rear.. on press..

IMHO it is ok to say this was not to my exceptions and per happs
to offer a pict but to lambast and use the pict to justify it
as i see happening well it is
kind of is a burr under my horse blanket

yes i can see your point very well.
many times the person finding the knives or the person packing the knives
does not know if a knife is a blem or not...
most all of them are not blems..
but as with stag what one thinks is OK some one else
thinks is a blem.. or 2ed
as said some times some thing slips through
haveing worked at Ben Hogan Golf i can assure you that no one there
wanted a blem to get by them hell to pay!!...
but i dont golf so would not know minor one if i saw it....
but if one did, hogan did not replace them as a rule as
most blems were caused by handling!
here i am not sure were a falt lies
but again to say of it is one thing
to harp on it ....
does any have a wife that nags?>
if so point made,,

I actually didn't send the candy, it was a joke. But after thinking about it I'm going to. Those two are especially helpful and friendly, especially given the amount of complaints I'm sure they have been getting lately. They are really on the front lines.

Off to the See's store!

Heck of an idea. I will drop something off in person to a few gals this Saturday at the BUCK Factory Sale.:D

for you guys that are lucky enough to be near the store I would really appreciate it if you could let Susan know how much I appreciated all the help she provided for Dave in Tennessee. sent an email to the higher ups and dropped a thank you card in the box with the Sirus and 118D2 she wanted to look at but would really like to thank her in person.

really like the knives Buck has but the service is what will keep me. and that level of service for a new guy like me starting with only 4! and again, I really appreciate all ya'll on here that have provided some great guidance for my first 16 I grabbed. Like I said before, great place while drinking a cup of coffee

Rich,

You are a lucky man to be close and able to go to all the factory store sale's. I have to say I'm a BCCI member and was overlooked with that sales list:mad:. I'm a lucky man because a few BCCI brothers made sure I got a copy (thanks Armand, Gordon). I wish I could be at every factory sale:D

I have bought a few FB's and was hard pressed to even see a blem....Good deal. BUCK keep it up!!!

Your happy customer

I wish I could be at every factory sale

Heck JB, that's only about a 8-10 drive to ID from NC right.
I'd be all over that weekender.

If I lived close enough to go to the factory store sale I would stay broke.

I nominate this at the Quote of the Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
