Web Special Specials

How does this work with "Limited Editions" as far as the numbers of knives produced? The original limited edition web page stated only 87 of the 119 with black canvas micarta and aluminum were originally released. Twenty-four hours after these two were released as web specials you can buy an additional 62 knives. Only 84 of the 119 with rosewood and aluminum were released. An additional 24 are now available for purchase. Are the original release numbers meaningless? How do people track the release numbers for the limited editions or do they not worry about it? I am not a collector and don't own any limited editions. I am just curious how the number of knives produced is tracked or if collectors even worry about it.

This is an issue that’s been cussed and discussed before.

The annual limited edition knife runs for a year, whatever number they sell is the number produced.

The number of BOTMs is subject to Buck’s decision makers. Probably based on how many they think will sell, material availability and history of the model’s sales.

Back when Buck would do build-outs and SFO for retailers there were limited numbers. Especially the BOs because there were limited parts.

I guess the answer is who knows!

What number is a limited number.
