Top of the morning to you all!

It's time I get my website back up and running. I'm unfortunate to live in a part of the country that suffers from lack of services (choices of). Therefore, my last site was part of my internet provider and when they sold out I lost my site and they didn't save the server, or something like that. ANYHOO! Now I need to get a website again. I was wondering if any of you kind, gentle folk would give me any suggestions for good web hosting sites?

Thanks!

Higgy, check with Seth Howard, over in primal fires. He is a site builder and has a contac near his office.

www.atlantavirtual.com - I feel a bit strange mentioning it here since that is the home of CKD, but Alex is VERY professional and isn't going to disappear in a cuple of days or years either. I've been through the ringer with several different hosts over the past four years (freebies, some pay fors, etc) and I can highly recommend AV.

Chris Crawford is setting up some site templates for knifemakers (in testing now). I'm not sure what his website is, but I'm sure someone will pipe in.

I just checked out Atlanta Virtual. Looks like a good outfit. I won't be having a shopping cart or anything, so Chuck, what plan do you thingk I should get? I'll just be using it for email correspondence, pics of my knives and some tutorials. Do you think the $7.95 a month pan is enough or is it so basic I couldn't have a custom front page or anything like that?

Atlanta Virtual for $8 a month is hard to beat. Tech support has responded to emails in just a few hours both times I've asked a question.

If you're in need of some one-stop-shopping, I do webdesign, hosting ($8), photography, marketing, etc., and have a special place in my heart for knifemakers...:p

Best of luck with your search - boy do I wish all knifemakers had well-designed websites...just hasn't seemed to catch on yet...

Mine was done by Dan (pendentive), and he did a spectacular job. He's a super guy to work with and I'm sure would accomodate your every wish and need in this department.

If you can write your own HTML, I've been with Tripod ( www.tripod.com ) for some time now and it is free unless you get too much traffic like I eventually ended up with. If you get too much traffic for the free hosting they shut you down for the remainder of the month. I will say this about them they have been solid, actually so solid that I have tried and tried to drop my pay account for months and months and I still get billed month after month and still have my payed for website. What more could you ask for? They totally ignore you but keep your site up and running. Typical.
