What do you guys get your friends for wedding gifts? Some of you will probably suggest looking at the gift registry, but my friend and his fiancee have a pretty short list. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for the help.

Why don't you consider picture albums? I'm sure the bride will have her own idea of what kind of album in which to place the wedding pictures in but either way you look at it you can't go wrong. In this digital world we still need picture albums! :)

We have a bridal registry where I work. We sell knives, but also kitchen knives and all kinds of "upscale" kitchen stuff. Knife block sets are a common gift. We also sell a lot of Henckels steak knife sets (set of eight in a wooden box), nice cookware (sets or individual) and Le Creuset ANYthing (they come out with trendy stuff too, if you know the couple's style.)

Otherwise, money is always acceptable, and often helpful after a wedding. Just try to do it in a creative way or something. The last one I went to, my gift was the bridal shower (OUCH on my wallet, lol) but I still wanted to have something to give them. I got two "gift books" and wrapped them up with a card that I slipped some cash into.

Oh yeah, and I wrapped it about six times, boxes in boxes, lol, and lots of tape (under the outside box, which looked normal.) This was my sister and bro-in-law. I had to be at least a LITTLE obnoxious, lol. ;)

This may not be appropriate depending on the bride and groom, but the most useful gift I was given at my wedding over a decade ago was a portable grill. It's a little table-top propane grill that I have used constantly for all the years I have been married. It has served us well and has to be the single gift that has seen the most function since our wedding.

Ditto on the cash option, as a gift.

LOL, they probably received one of your detailed reviews of the grill - on the back of the Thank You note. :D
