Hey guys, I don't seem to be able to post this in the gallery area, so i chucked it here instead.

Ive been making this piece for my younger sisters wedding in August, its been a bit o a challenge for me as its only my third knife (the other two were very practice jobbos in mild steel) so its been a big learner using different materials and doing a full flat grind on a knife of this size.

Anyway its pretty much ready to go, just needs sharpening. Thank you to all you guys who helped with advice along the way. Hope this lasts them a lifetime :)

Kitchen/Chefs knife, Nitro V Stainless full tang, G10 handle with stainless steel pins. Polished to 2000 grit.

Now if anyone has any tips on sharpening this with a lansky, am all ears :)

Nice job.
I like give a good slicer knife as a wedding gift (or a set of two or 3 knives). I have many people tell me that it is the only wedding present they still have and that they use it every day. I get a lot of pleasure when they bring it back every year or so to be sharpened.

Technohedge: are you able to reveal how you did the stenciling for the etching of names and dates? For a one-off seems expensive to order stencils. did you hand-scrape out from fingernail polish (beautiful if so!) ... or were you able to generate your own stencil from a computer printed font? I have a similar need for a single etching ... and would very much welcome how you did that!

I make my own stencils. I bought the kit from Martronics so I can make any stencils I want for cheap. Simple little life gave me the idea.

Thanks! Not a bad solution - and similar to something that Stacy recommended for one-off marking on handles.
