B.C - Thank you. I will endeavor to attempt repair ( hopefully with surgical precession ) in order to keep this beautiful handle intact. I have been busy reading up on how to thru the forums archives..

Ugly Duck,
Thanks for saving me from myself! That is a beautiful sword.

I've been waiting for a Katana with a cracked handle for a long, long time! I have some fossil whalebone & mammoth tusk & abalone shell to use in making a new handle. Yipee!!

Mammoth tusk = Yum!! I can't wait to see that.

That sounds awesome just don't breath the dust

And, dangit, I was thinking about getting this one too and replacing the handle!

Ordered on Thursday, received on Saturday. Service unparalleled in the business world.

And wutta piece! I've waited a long time to get an HI Katana... but its so dang cool I shudda pulled the trigger long ago. Great feel to it!

Same here - Shipped on Thursday received it today and I'm on the east coast. Got to love the service both from HI and the US postal services. Wonderful blade ( thank you Yangdu ) to add to the ever growing collection. Will attempt the handle repair in the short future.

Another pleasant surprise... the blade came paper-slicing sharp from tip to hilt. Some folks put in an awful a lot of time making this thing - its a real honor to have it in my home. I've rigged up an EdgePro with padded appurtenances to put a high polish on the convex edge. I'll have to go inch-by-inch & it'll take a long time.... but it'll be crazy sharp by the time I'm done with it...

Welcome to the Katana Club Guys!!

PS: Doc is looking forward to wearing His this Summer at the Renn Faire!
