Is Debt Good?

Oh... right....

Debt IS good! (too bad I went back to school and am doing this tuition thing... these things are freaking rare... and it hasn't been gobbeled up by the sharks yet!)

AHHHHHHHHHHHH ANOTHER KATAR!!!!!
SOMEBODY BUY IT PLEASE!!! SAVEEEEE MEEEEE!!! :foot:

This fits the definition of a punch dagger, so beware. It may be illegal in your state. It is illegal in the whole of Canada. I have just lodged an appeal that customs confiscated a 17th century Katar of mine that I brought over from England.

Jimmy, Debt is good! ;)
You know you want it and besides there is no telling when Yangdu will get another one.:p :D

Looks nice.

Looks like they have improved the handle a bit over the original design.

I would imagine that these would be legal in most states as long as it is on your own premises (although I would really want to check the regs in places like California, Massachusetts, and Chicago  ). Just don't get in the habit of carrying a katar concealed in public.

Should someone learn that they can no longer legally own their katar, I will gladly take it off their hands for them.

Do not thank me for this service. I consider it to be my civic duty.

I guess this answers my question in the other katar thread.

Damn, that's generous! I always knew you were a good guy Dave. :D

My philosohy has always been that it's better to ask forgiveness than permission in any case...

Didn't you solder or weld up yours in some way Dave? I seem to recall you mentioning something about that...

Norm

Yes, I had mine welded to strengthen it up a bit more. It was a helpful improvement.

I also modified the tip a bit too to make it a bit stronger.

Now that I think about it pretty much the only thing I didn't do was etch it to find out how the kamis hardened the blade.

The law doesn't differentiate what you do with it, _possession_ is prohibited where a punch dagger is illegal.

The law was brought in to make belt buckle knifes, the 'constant companion' illegal. By fuzzy law, it includes katars.

There are so many jurisdictions that it is hard to make general statements (at least in the US). Now if there is a federal law prohibiting possesion of this then so be it. I was assuming that many states would treat the katar in manners similar to balisongs, automatics, and double edged blades - "Generally" legal to possess but generally not legal to carry.
Probably a moot point as noone would even bother with a display piece, or not know what it is. It could be a stirrup based magnum crampon.:D
Sorry for your problems with Canadian customs.

Thanks for the warning Andrew, I knew that it wouldn't pass through customs.

well, also, the laws that make certain chain connect weapons also make medieval flails illegal.

i don't know about you, but i don't think i could conceal a large spiked flail underneath my jacket.

In most ways canadian knife laws are pretty good, no blade length restrictions. As long as it isnt concield an automatic(gravity knife, bali, etc) or a push dagger. To bad that they cant differentiate between collecting and carrying.
