weekday/weekend EDC?

I don't know if this topic has been raised before, but does anyone have a different EDC for weekday and weekend? It would seem that, because some of us dress differently during the week than on the weekend, we might carry different EDC's. Besides my LM Wave, I am currently carrying a Buck Prince during the week. It lies nice and flat in khakis or suit pants. On the weekend, when I am more casually dressed and care less about a bulge in the pocket, I am carrying a Schrade Old Timer 4" stockman.

Is that a stockman in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?:-)

Sure do:

During the week:
Camillus EDC Talonite
Mini Griptilian

Weekend:
Large Classic Sebenza
BM AFCK
Al Mar Sere 2000
BM 730
BM 941

I find myself mostly on the weekend with the Sebenza or the Sere.

yes, since i carry differnt knives to work(M-F) than on weekends when i am off. To work i carry a custom neck knife and a CRKT M-18. On weekends i carry a custom 4" Blade Drop point and a PCKS buck 110. and sometimes something bigger if i feel the need.

Yeah, my weekend carry (currently) consist of the Spyderco Renegade and Merlin.
Reason is that I go to school normally with a tamer folder so that even if someone was surprised I have one, they won't be so damn scared ;)

My at work EDC is either a BM 690 or 940.

Off work I carry an MT LCC, MT Amphibian, or Camillus Cuda Maxx, sometimes all three.

Life was orderly and easy to understand. I would carry my plain small Sebenza during the week for the same reasons you stated (khakis and suits etc.). On the weekend it was my beloved Socom Elite.

Then I got a Benchmade 941D2CF and life has become a bit more confused. This knife sort of lands right between the little Sebenza and the Socom E in size. It's sleek enough to ride in my dress pants pocket and rides low so as not to attract too much attention. With the Carbon fiber handle slabs it's very cool looking. Did I mention that it's got a D2 blade?

These days I find myself carrying the Benchmade most of the time both for work and on the weekends. I'm afraid my other more exotic and expensive knives will start to feel neglected.

I didn't have this problem (or any of those three knives) before I found this forum.

I guess there are worse problems to have.

Yes, I carry different knives on the weekend than on weekdays. On weekdays, I generally carry a medium-to-large multitool plus a small folder. For example, LM Juice plus Spyderco Ladybug II. On the weekend, the larger multitool is replaced by a LM Micra or SAK, plus a medium-to-large folder or small fixed blade. For example, Victorinox Tinker plus Spyderco Rescue.

I carry a Carson M4 on a daily basis. I also have a leatherman micra on my keychain. Occasionally a different knife gets dropped in the pocket, but it has nothing to do with the day of the week. Mainly I just see it on the desk and think "i haven't carried that in a while, let's put it in my pocket today." I don't have any set method of which knife to carry when. However, this may all change as I have 3 more Carsons incoming within the next week or so. Also got a 2nd Mike Obenauf and a JW Smith on order. This could all get very confusing.

I carry the same thing 7 days a week. I always have a Buck Prince in my left hand pocket for small chores and in case I hear those dreaded words "let me borrow your knife". Right hand pocket has one of these on a daily basis;
JW Smith LS-1 Eighties.....4" blade
JW Smith LS-1 Recurve......4" blade
JW Smith Scimitar..........3.5" blade
or my newest
Mike Obenauf large Model 2.....3.75" blade

I will sometimes change from even those but it will be a similar knife. I also sometimes pack my Al Mar SERE DA, just to have a "toy"!

Btw I am a 7th grade science teacher......my kids sometime ask me what that is in my pocket as they can obviously see the clip and top of the knife sticking out. I tell them knife, and one will say "you can't have a knife at school" and the others will say "yes he can, cause he is the teacher" then the other will say "oh, thats right". Then all is well within the classroom and it is back to diagramming atoms!:D

Hey JR, I see we have similar taste!! and the Carson will go in the mail TODAY!

yes, unfortunately its hard to decide what to carry? for nice clothes I usually have the leek, it doesnt print in the pocket!! of course the camillus edc isnt too far away on that one.

during the weekend its the avalanche, boker omega, benchmade721, 910 stryker, 550 griptillian, m-18, spyderco delica, spyderco Jotsingh khalsa, or one of my handmades, depending on what I feel like carrying that day!! (toooo many knives, these arent even a speck, of a speck in the bucket).
hard decision many times!!!

Well... For work, and most times I carry my small sebbie since it agrees with the sheeple, and is accepted as a utility knife, not a weapon.

But for weekends going out drinking or shooting billiards, hiking etc..(slumming) I carry my MT - Tachyon balisong (butterfly knife)

Balisongs are my FAVORITE, and the Tachyon by MT is the best I have ever used - smooth as silk. But it sure does bring about some funny looks and is certainly not appropriate for business or going out to dinner (sniff..sniff) too bad or it would never leave my side.

But the sebbie is just as nice, just in a different way.

Since I work on weekends I do carry a different knife.
Lately it's been a Victorinox Electrician.
But sometimes I carry a Kershaw Scallion or Spyderco Meerkat at work (in a hospital).

Good luck,
Allen.

At work I usually carry a nice little William Henry Lancet. The ultra-light weight is nice for light weight dress pants. Anything heavier will cause the pocket to droop.

Once I get home, it's either a Snody folder (Resistor, Retaliator, or Hybrid) or lately a Strider AR.

The weekends are much like my weeknights, something more substantial and I usually carry some sort of flashlight, like a Surefire E1E or Inova X5T (my newest toy!)

Great thread by the way!!

I tend to carry my BM 722 more during the week. This is due to the type of clothing that I wear to school. Usually look like your average bum, track/sweatpants and with this apparel the 722 is a lot easier to carry IWB than my Military, AFCK or Commander.

I'm a stay-at-home dad and husband (work "from and at" the home), so I carry the same type of knife all the time, only in different sizes depending where I am.

At home: An Emerson Mini Commander. Got a bunch. A rotation.

Out & about: A full sized Commander. Again, a rotation.

3:00 AM paper delivery: A Super Commander or ES1M. Rotation again. Yeah...I've LOTS of Commanders!

NOTE: When carrying the larger knives, I also carry a small custom slip-joint.

Not at the present time, but I'm considering it. Right now I'm carrying a Strider AR, but it's a tad big to tote to church.

I have an SnG ordered, and I hope to make that my EDC. If I keep the AR (and that's a big IF, money is tight), I just might rotate it to "hard use" status and only lug it instead of a meat axe.

I have quite a few pretty Microtechs, and I love that brand, I don't know why I have rotated them out of play. I think L.O. Little might score a few of them, but right now he's paying rip-off prices for some premium bacterial salve to treat some nasty jock itch that simply won't go away. (He laughs, and says the green color is a muted 'Strider green,' but I can tell that there's pain in that laughter.)

I do have quite a few LCC's, and I might get one of them re-handled with ivory grips, some custom guys make them. That's a ways off.

LOL for L.O.L :D Poor guy! Sorry for the stray, but it reminds me of some poor dude I remember in my high school P.E. class that had jock itch damn near to his armpits! I always felt sorry for that poor f****r! :D
