Well, since Alberta's currently on fire, and the outdoor air quality is somewhere between nasty and toxic, decided to play with some of the leftover leather from some axe sheaths I made. (And by leftover leather I mean like half a cow). First time really working with leather (apart from the axe sheaths), and with limited tools, so the results weren't exactly what I envisioned, but I'm still pretty happy with the results.

First up was a belt loop for my BK11, ripped off, err, inspired from the Black Owl video and Gassy's subsequent beautiful pics of the same sheath mod:

Not quite as fancy as Gassy's, but does the trick. Leather was "vinegarooned" with the stuff used to soak the axe heads in. Then liberally oiled up with Obernauf's. Still deciding whether or not to make the firesteel loop.

Next up was a leather pouch sheath for my BK16. Kinda ad libbed as I went along. Decided to use some of the five thousand rivets I has leftover from the axe sheaths to hold it together instead of sewing (mostly because I can't sew…). Also didn't have any contact cement, so had to use Gorilla glue on the welt.

Wet molded around the knife; retention is actually really tight. Belt loop is kinda small though; might have to replace it with a longer one. Or maybe make a dangler attachment. Next up is learning to sew and figuring out to punch holes for sewing without the proper tools or a drill press or anything. Important thing is I learned a ton from this buildup that'll help me on my next one :)

Both sheaths together:

Thanks for looking, and any tips or criticism is appreciated!

Very nice work mate. How good is that mod just quietly. Turned out great - well done.

Very nice..... If you are this good early on with no special tools, you are gonna get spectacular.....

One little design note... Personally, I like the top of a pouch sheath and the pommel at belt level..... That way pommel no sticky in ribs when sitting down or squatting......

Love the way the Eleven sheath worked out and the belt loop is about the perfect height...... Really nice work.......

I am going to enjoy seeing how your leather skills develop......

Thanks everyone; glad you liked them.

Thank you Ethan! Great tip; it'll be filed away for version 2.0.

You have the Becker content here. I'd be interested in the axe sheaths/masks as well. We can never have too many pictures.

Nice work on the sheaths. Wet molding is a pita.

Thanks everyone!

Ok, twist my arm…[emoji3]

Couple of garage-sale Swedish axe heads my wife wheeled for $5/pair. Soaked them in vinegar, knocked off the rust, re-handled and sharpened. Then figured out how to make some masks for them:

My "handiwork" so far:

Beginner hmmm
Exceptional work. Needles and thread are cheap. Can't wait to see the level you take this to.
