Stumbled on an auction Sat in another town taking my wife out for lunch. I missed the saw but found the guy that bought it and he ended up buying half the sale (Not really but he filled his truck and trailer full, he easily spent $3000) He found me later and offered it to me for what he paid because he was from out of town and didn't want to make two trips. $70 and he gave me the receipt. I jumped! It's huge, it's old, but it is Bad!!! :D Works great! Haven't cut anything with it yet. just plugged it in. I am sure I could easiy cut a railroad track in two with it! Has a big nice vise. It took 4 of us to put it in my truck and we had to take it apart and raise the topper to get it in. My Uncle says it is a rail saw. Dad says it is a metal hacksaw. Don't know, but I like it! :D
Missed another pile of junk and found the bidder. He sold me this huge chain for $2. It looks about the size of a motorcycle chain but it is very long. Says Acme USA on the links. Might be a good practice chain? Worth a shot maybe. Yesterday I went to another auction and got a cast iron Dunlap bandsaw for $8 without a motor but in great shape. I already have two band saws and the new huge saw but how could I pass that up? Then I bought a pile of 3m and Hermes 2x72 belts for $3! 320 to 50 I think, I haven't counted or looked what all they are. At least 10 belts I would say. Maybe more.
Sorry about rambling but I am pretty happy. :D

That thing's badass :). I used one of those once actually...I had to cut a heavy duty piece of steel for an air compressor...it was cool ;).

Good Score! My dad had a saw like it only smaller. He used it for years and sold it for more than he paid.

Nice saw, those old tools should run forever with a little TLC. My grandfather had one like it, maybe a little bigger that he used to cut round stock for gear blanks, I hope to get it back home and in use this summer. I was a little kid last time I saw it run, as I remember they are slow, but you just start it and add a little oil once and a while so you can work on other things while it chugs away.

You know, I used to look at people like you and think, "Boy people will buy anything". Then a friend of mine bought a box of old, dusty, dirty camera parts, and under it all was a old piece of crap camera. He paid $70 for the box and I told him he was crazy. Well to make a long story short, he took it home and cleaned it all up, and sold the stuff to a camera collector for over $2500. I received a phone call from him the day he sold it and I hear about it every time we get together.
Now people like you make me fealous, I can never find deals like you've come up with. Nice score. Looks like it will make a cool addition to your shop.

Thanks all!! I am still pretty darn happy! It is big and old. If I did not have the interest in old cars and building big things I would not need something like that. But the way I figure it, I can use it to cut steel stock and order bigger pieces at a time and maybe save a little money. If I do stock removal I can scribe out my pattern and cut it almost to size with this. A lot of uses for me. It is a big old t#rd, but considering my budget this is such a bargain. Now I just need a deal on a big Mig and I will be good to go for a while! So many tool stands that I need to build! :D
