Hey Folks,

Just wanted to share a few photos from this weekends overnight backpack.

This is a small waterfall where stopped to fill our bottles in the pool below.

An opening in the Red Spruce forest, I'm guessing these trees were killed by ice damage.

HD,

We based our trip off of this hike: http://www.midatlantichikes.com/id133.html

But we eliminated the southern portion that ran allong CLR 13. Instead of taking the Railroad Grade Trail down to CLR 13, we went about 1 mile out the Plantation trail and bushwacked towards the bog shown on the map. We camped there and the next morning, backtracked to the intersection of Plantation and Railroad Grade trail, there we headed left to come out on CLR 13. According to the distances on the map thats 8.45 miles without the bushwack, but instead of parking at the Lindy Point trailhead, we parked at the Ski Area parking lot, about a mile out towards the lodge. I'd venture that we covered about 11 miles total, not really a lot of ground, but we camped early and took it easy!

Looks like a great trip :)

I wish we could camp and build fires like that around here.

Looks like you had fun. That Kumunga looks like you are putting some good use on it

Man, I've been beating the dog snot out of that Kumunga. I was kind of skeptical when I bought it (I've never been much on big knives), but for the price I couldn't pass it up. I've been using it to do some light machete work and to split wood for little fires at the house. Several times I've had it stuck so bad in knotty sugar maple that I've had to turn the round upside down and beat on the edge of the blade and the handle just to dislodge it! (note that I don't recommend treating your knives this way) and other than some wear on the coating that abuse hasn't hurt it at all!

I've always wanted to do the 23 mile one he has listed on there. I've been to Lindy Point but I've never done any backpacking right there.(Yet)

Very nice, good to see that Condor getting some attention. That koyote makes a perfect match. Thanks for posting!
