Family and I were able to get away for the weekend. We took a small campin trip to a place we have never been. It's called Indian Cave State Park, in south eastern Nebraska. Right next to Missouri.
Very nice place, kind if reminds me of where i grew up in south western Pennsylvania.
We have a small travel trailer that we tow behind my truck. Ideally we would like to camp in tents like we used to, but this is a little easier with our twin boys. Especially when it's cold and or raining. (Had a little bit if both this weekend.
Here's a few pics.
It's a really nice wooded and hilly state park that borders the Missouri River.
Now into the knives!!!
So it was really a toss up to what other knives I was going to bring along with the bk2. I have already tested out the bk24 over the last few weeks and also using it as my EDC. So I already knew what it was capable of. Bu in the end I decided to bring the bk24 and my bhk bushbaby. Not until we got there Friday night, did I realize that I was only going to need the bk2 and nothing else. This knife is amazing and can complete all sorts of tasks! I figured I would need the 24 for all the fine work of making sticks for roasting hot dogs or other food prep.
Not only was I wrong I was way wrong.
Since we were at a campground that we could park our travel trailer at, there was a fire ring. So what did I do, start chopping some small dead trees down for kindling. The bk2 not only did this task but I swear the trees were collapsing at the fear of getting hit with this beast.
I already had some firewood that I brought from home. It was some oak that I got from a buddy. It was plenty hard and thought I was going to have some trouble chopping it up. Well again I was wrong. I decided to do all the wood processing with the bk2 and not use the estwing axe at all.
Here are a few pics.
Before. Nice new finish.
Did some batoning
Got a small fire going to cook dinner on.
