Made it this weekend from a 6" 'Keller' file I found in an old barn, the rust pits give it an incredible kewl look... Edge is 2 5/8" long hollow ground on an 8" wheel, Brass pins, Black Linen micarta handle, 5 3/4" long in the closed position. I don't even use this kind of razor so I don't know why I made it but it was a fun project! Comments please!

looks pretty cool to me. i also don't shave with one, but i wouldn't mind having one either...

VERY NICE ! Making one of those is on my short list.

I dont use one now, but when i make one i wanna try it out

Very nice work. It has an antique look in a new package - a great combination. Using a razor like that could put some excitement back into shaving!!!

I do shave with one. In fact, I own and shave with 4 different razors. There's a little test one can do to see if the razor is sharp enough to try to shave with. It's called the 'Hanging Hair Test'. (if it will shave your arm, it may not shave your beard). To do the hanging hair test, pull one hair from your head. Place the razor, back down, blade up on the counter. Holding the hair in one hand only, bring the hair down to the blade. (having someone or something hold the blade and gripping the hair on both ends is cheating). Hold the hair in one hand only and bring the hair down to the blade. If the blade is sharp enough to cut the hair when the hair touches the blade, it passes the hanging hair test and is sharp enough to try to shave with. With my gray hairs, I usually need my razors to be sharper than that.
It's a lot different from sharpening a hunter enough to gut a deer!

The razor looks nice, though. Good luck sharpening it.
