the swelled ricasso is pretty neat, reminiscent of that criollo style, but with the guard in behind seems unique to Moran. I don't remember seeing anyone else do it, (other than 'homages' to Moran).
So, would you call it a bolster? Would that make the guard kind of a spacer?
While the shapes of some of those Morans are sometimes a little jarring, I think that's what makes them so compelling. They seem more intuitive, than planned. And being a guy who needs to have some kind of plan, I really respect the organic feel of these knives. At least in pictures. I can only imagine how one would feel in the hand. I'm sure they're pure magick.
