Thanks for sharing these Mr. Ellis. I love Bill Moran's knives. You certainly have some wonderful examples of his work.
 
Those middle two are simply monstrous!
Different strokes for different folks, I guess sexy lines and wicked sharp edges are not for everyone.

the swelled ricasso is pretty neat, reminiscent of that criollo style, but with the guard in behind seems unique to Moran. I don't remember seeing anyone else do it, (other than 'homages' to Moran).
So, would you call it a bolster? Would that make the guard kind of a spacer?
While the shapes of some of those Morans are sometimes a little jarring, I think that's what makes them so compelling. They seem more intuitive, than planned. And being a guy who needs to have some kind of plan, I really respect the organic feel of these knives. At least in pictures. I can only imagine how one would feel in the hand. I'm sure they're pure magick.
