Does anyone know if the Wegner with the "Alaska Department of Game & Fish" engraved on the blade is available to the general public? Of was this a special run for the Game Wardens in Alaska alone? I'd love to have one of these in my collection. Thanks in advance for any help.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Also does anyone know of a source that can engrave images on knife blades? I think my depts patch or badge would look pretty good on the blade of my Wegner

Lot's of places do laser engraving. It would probably be very expensive to do only one knife because of the set-up involved. I understand that it is extremely difficult to traditionally engrave a knife blade because of the hardness.

On the other hand, the Spyderco stainless handles take engraving quite nicely.

I wonder if blade-tech would be the company to ask? They may be the ones that supply to the Dept of Game and Fish.

Thanks Brian! That other little knife on the Web-Site looked interesting too!

If you read through the whole site, it does list the Wegner as being available with or without the engraving.

Someone in one of these threads mentioned the Mouskinna would be a good replacement for the Wegner Jr. I kind of doubt that as the Mouskinna is a small knife. Like Toad small according to the specs.

Cool site, anyways.

Tim's Web site states that the Wegner Clipit is available with or without the Alaska Seal however, I tried to order one today and was promptly informed that only retired state officals can purchase the knives with the Alaska marking. I told her that the web site stated that either could be purchased but she wouldn't budge so no deal I guess. Seems a waste of good advertising money to hype the same knife twice in Blade forums in the same issue, but what do I know. I guess I'll spend the money on some else's knife.

Anybody wanting the knife with the logo might do well to contact Tim once he returns from the SHOT show. There may well be a logical explanation. Otherwise it does indeed seem to be a waste...

Has anyone else tried to buy one of the Wegners with the Alaska game logo on it like the one advertised on page 33 of the March 2000 Blade Magazine?

OK guys, here is the skinny on the C48/Wegner clipits with the Alaska Fish & Game logoes etched on the blades. These knives are done specifically
for active and retired Alaska fish and game employees. We have been allowed to sell a small number of surplus knives to collectors, but as of this post we will be referring customers directly to The Alaska Dept.of F&G.
Our website erroneously mentioned that these knives were available to the public from Blade-Tech, this is incorrect and I apologize for any inconvienience this my have caused. I am in the process of having my webmaster update our site with the corrected info which will also follow in this post. THE LOGOED KNIVES ARE AVAILABLE, but can only be officially purchased through the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game Hunter Information and Training Program. I believe the price is around $116.95 plus S&H.
Please call to confirm this price as It was not made official as of my last conversation with Tony Monzingo at AK F&G.
