Wegner- Combo or plainedge, best for field dressing deer?

I have three Wegners, one large and two small. I've field dressed and skinned four whitetail with my large plain edge Wegner. I've also cleaned quite a bit of small game with a small Wegner plain edge. The plain edge performed perfectly. I really couldn't see how the serations could be all that helpful. I've always just liked the looks and effectiveness of the full plain cutting edge. Others mileage may vary.

Plain edge.

It makes cleaner cuts while working on an animal and doesn't cause drag. The Wegner is a perfect knife for dressing game. My friend has used my Wegner through 4 deer, elk and moose seasons. The blade has seen a lot of work and hasn't skipped a beat.

As I've said before, I don't think I'm getting that knife back

I also have 1 large and 2 small Wegners. One of my small Wegners is a combo edge. My main complaint is that there are too many serrations. They can actually interfere with smooth slicing, such as when you are opening the vent on a small rabbit or squirrel. I definitely prefer the smooth. However, I have found the serrations on the small Wegner superior for removing the paws of small critters. You can kinda "saw" through the small bones. It's good for removing the head as well. All in all, though, I prefer the smooth edge.

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.
