Just wondering why the Wegner models were discontinued? They seem pretty popular, and the blade shape is awesome!

Coming soon to a knife store near you.........the Ocelot. Well, eventually anyway.

A new version with upgraded steel (assume BG-42), a nice finger choil at the base of the cutting edge, and perhaps a compression lock.

Many are unhappy about the stated FRN handle material, but they will get over it.

Hi Bryan,

Both were discontinued due to poor sales. They are popular on the forum, but not with the market at large.

The large Wegner was my first Spyderco.

As much as I like the Ocelot (I have prototype #16 :D ) it does not replace the excellent ergonomics of the large Wegner. I have high hopes for the forthcoming Impala, but doubt seriously that anything can come as close as the Wegner.

I most certainly agree with you Dennis. There really is nothing quite like the large Wegner. I've been carrying my Wegner Jr. lately and it's pretty nice too.

Ditto Brian Turner. I don't buy FRN knives anymore. No reason; there're much better handles around.

It's a shame, because the ergonomics on that knife look pretty awesome.

I'd much rather have G-10 or carbon fiber. Hell, even a bare metal one. The only FRN handled knife that is tempting me is the Spyderco Vesuvius.
