Here is the Lynx alongside a C48GPS. Note the size difference. Can't wait for these to go into production!

I LIKE IT

Does the clip side have a steel liner, and if it does, is the clip screwed into the steel?

Keith - you're gonna like it even more. Get this: it has dual steel liners that are nested into the G-10. Pretty trick CNC action going on there

So yes, the clip holes are tapped in the steel liners.

I like this new design, but I wish they'd make it as big as the original Wegner. I want to purchase the new design as a "survival" Spydie knife when it comes out, but I never envisioned that the blade and handle would be shorter.

Oh well, I guess it's a trend?

Or Tim (and Sal?) preferred it this way for function/bigger market purposes?

I'm curious. Sal? Tim? Anyone?

(By the way, the prices seem to be going up on the original Wegner. Gotta get me one of those ASAP!)

Dex -

Is it my eyes, or have they raised the tip of the Lynx to where it is on the Pro Hunters? Might be a trick of the light and grindlines, but it looks to be higher than the C48.

Nice to see the thonghole getting a liner on the new model.

Last I heard, it was going to be FRN. Is it going to be produced in G10?

It's so beautiful, I want one. Maybe two. Wow.

Am I crazy, or does the blade say "SOG USA" on it?

In FRN I'd probably pass, in G10 with the Compression Lock and VG10 or CPM I'd buy one in a minute for $100 to $125 street price.

I love Spydies but not much new has excited me lately. The Bali and the Lynx could reverse that trend!

I also wish the new Lynx (or whatever its new name is gonna be) was as big as the original Wegner, but I'm still very much interested. G-10 is preferred, but I can live with FRN just fine. Just hope the reversible clip will make it to production.

Thanks for the comparison shot Dexter.

On page 4 of the other Lynx thread Tim Wegner himself comments on the status of the model:

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Hey Guys
Thought I'd better jump into the fray to help clarify a few things. The soon to be re-named knife was really not intended to be a replacement for the C48, it was designed to be a refined lightweight hybridization of all three knives the C48,C49,& the Mouse. If the C48 goes the way of the cull, I would hope Sal would let me do it as an exclusive as I did the Mouse. As far as the new knife goes I hope and plan to have both versions made, though in the end its all up to Sal. After talking to Vince,he is confident that the BG42/G10 version could be done @$150.-$185.MSRP with the pug marks as they are now. It would be done in limited numbers, with the FRN version in the higher volume at an approx MSRP of $75-$95. These prices are ballpark estimates only at this time.
To date the R&D,CAD programmming and prototyping expenses have been covered for the BG42/G10 version and it really only needs to find a place in Vinces/Spydercos schedule. As far as the Pugs go, they need to stay because they give an even better grip pattern than the plain G10 does. Remember this is a REFINED predators tool. and if any of you have read the likes of Jim Corbet,Peter H.Capstick,John A.Hunter and the like you'd know the pug marks are a Brit
term for large man-eating kitty tracks. They seem to add the perfect finishing touch to a well executed knife.

Well I gotta run for now, but I am still mulling over possible Big cat names and I will post the new name candates soon and let you guys ad some more inputof your own.
Thanks!
Tim

Yes, the tip of the Lynx has more upsweep than the C48. Your peepers aren't playing tricks on you

Right you are! Very nice lockup I might add. Sal & crew did a great job refining their lock.

I'm glad to see that BG-42 will be used. BG's a great high end steel, but you don't see it used too often in production. IMHO this is one of the major selling points for the Lynx, among many others.

Nice scan. Try this one for a little different view of the pugs.
