Well, I have two of the Blade-Tech Wegner Pro Hunters and they are simply awesome. So I am wondering if anyone out there has the Mouse 2? I am thinking of getting myself another Christmas present and am thinking this would make a nice matched set with the Pro Hunter.

Drew,

My wife carries the mouse2 as an EDC. After years of giving her about any folder to get here to carry ANY knife on her pocket, she has sttled on the mouse2.

I like it so much I'm getting one myself.

Mouse is a great little knife and Wegner has done a wonderful job with the design.

Two in our family have/carry one. Always handy.

I saw a Mouse 2 on some knife-retail website and it was going for like a hundred bucks!? Is that the case? I dunno... Is there a FRN handled version out for cheaper? That seems to me like an awful lot of money for such a diminutive knife. I have a Copilot that has all the blade that Mouse has, and I got it for like sixty bucks on Ebay brand new. What's special about this Mouse 2?

Jeffrey, here's the Blade-Tech page with the Mouse 2, and their own official statement on it -- http://shop.blade-tech.com/merchant.ihtml?id=35&step=2

It was developed as a hunting knife (as a compact version of the Wegner Professional Hunter shown below it). I haven't seen either of these knives on the secondary market, so I guess that means the price will stay up there.

I had the opportunity to purchase a Wegner Mouse 2 on Ebay awhile back but passed on it. Didn't have the funds then. :grumpy: It went for about $60 which is about $15 less than the going rate for a G10 handled model. I haven't seen any on Ebay since.

The G10 goes for about $75 and the CF handled version goes for $96-$110.

Full flat grind (hollow grind shown in most photos), S30V steel, G-10 or carbon fiber scales, made for disassembly for easy cleaning or easier misplacement of important pieces. What isn't special about the Mouse 2?

Aside from that, Bladetech might not be large enough to enjoy the economy of scale that Spyderco has.

I picked up my Mouse 2 from stellarrigs.com for $69.99 shipped. Received it in short order, very pleasant experience. Had an email exchange with Edward Kaye there, he wondered why so few of his customers are familiar with the Blade-Tech knives. As for my example of the Mouse 2, it's excellent in most every way, offers great grip options, feels larger than it is but packs very comfortably. Only downside is that I seem to have lost it somewhere in my living room. Hopefully it will turn up again soon, I really like that knife.

Me too. The quality I have seen so far is superb. I would put their product right up there with the best production companies. I can't figure why they get so little attention.

I think going through "normal" distribution channels would help make the knives more readily available. I don't believe Blade-tech sells through distributors such as Blue Ridge, Matthews, etc. Of course, there are downsides to that as well.

Well, I went ahead and ordered a Mouse 2 from stellarrigs.com for $69.99 shipped and received it last week. This is one heck of a little knife. built like a tank and after a couple swipes on a strop is lazer sharp. Very pleased with this purchase. I now have a reason for carrying two knives at once!

Thanks all!

I just picked one up from Tim two weeks or so ago... there is no hair on my left arm, and most of it disappeared in a bar showing those who know me what a sharp knife is supposed to do... and they all want one! I picked up his version made with (IIRC) a set of ALOX handle slabs. My only regret is I didn't buy all the ones he had on the table for stocking stuffers... :( Man, it was a deal too sweet to pass up and now I carry it as a money clip every day...
