I'm looking to buy a 2" inch EDC that is sheeple friendly and wondered what you think about the Bladetech Wegner Mouse Lite and the SOG Blink. I don't want to spend a fortune. And Forum opinion on the G10 version of the Mouse has generally been favorable. I haven't found as much about the Blink, but what I have read has generally been favorable. Thoughts? Which would make a better EDC? Thanks for your opinions.

Personally, I would get the Wenger Mouse. I am just not that fond of SOG knives.

I like SOG's products, but the mouse (in various forms) has field dressed entire deer. I also prefer frn.

I think you'd be better off with the Blink. It's much nicer looking, has assisted opening, and a bigger blade. I have one and I like it. The Wegner looks really butt ugly in my opinion though I do like the larger designs.

The Wenger Mouse is a superior design, great ergos, and can handle any task. BTW it is made by BladeTech, not SOG.

I'd go with the Wegner, but I'm not a big fan of SOG either, as my only one let me down in terms of edge retention and it ended up breaking on me.

If you like SOG, you could consider a Twitch 1 or a Sculptura in addition to the Blink. Though on balance, I concur with the majority, it looks like the Wegner might be the better value, though I'm not sure why Tim limited the Mouse to a skinning blade. For EDC, I'd want something more utiliatrian such as a clip point or drop point. That said, Mouse ownership satisfaction is overwhelming positive. So, if you have to make a decision quickly, choose the Wegner. If you have the time, try to go to a Bricks and Mortar and handle both. In my opinion, EDC preferences rely a lot on subjective considerations. And while opinions are helpful, there is no substitute for handling and examining each. If you live in a place where that can't happen, buy both and rotate them. A Mouse lite and a Blink together are about $65, and that won't break the bank.

I had a Blink for a while, but I found it was small enough (very thin) that I had a hard time holding onto it and trying to flick it open. I could do it, but it always felt like I might drop it. Had a Mouse Lite for a while too, I didn't care for the blade. Too thick for its length, and the V-hole tended to catch on materials I was cutting.

So, sorry, I'm not much help choosing, I wouldn't recommend either of them.:o

I also have a SOG Blink and that's my initial impression too, I just can't seem to hold on to it or get my fingers out of the way when I open it ...

IMO it's more of a money clip with an AO blade, I do like the locking safety ( open or closed) , but to me it's a gentleman's knife. It's well made though and I can't really compare it to the Mouse because I don't own one. The Mouse design does look like it would be more useful. I have a Kershaw Scallion and I like it more than the Blink.

I have the Mouse Lite. The steel is great for the price and more than adequate for a knife this size. I am sure you are not going to cut anything heavy duty with this little thing. The ergos is also good for a knife this small. The knife is also very solid for the size. The Zytel feels a lot like G-10 because if they way it is textured. The Blink doesn't have as good as steel, but I think it is good enough for opening box and slicing the occasional fruit. I also like the S.A.T. But the general fit and finish of the Blink and other SOGs just don't feel up to par with thier peers. Hope this info will help you.

I'd also recommend you glance at the SS Cricket.
