Wegner sales?

I just bought one of the the discontinued Wegners. What a great knife. Why in the world didn't these sell? I love mine. Very solid, very nice fit and a lovely blade. I am having trouble putting this baby down.

Seems like Spyderco does the planned obsolescense thing to promote sales. This knife deserved promotion as it is a real beaut!

Couldn't agree more Takujualuk

I have 2 of these knives myself and had to find another one for a friend who was so impressed with mine. I've never really understood why this design doesn't get much attention. It's definitely one of my favourites.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that there was a falling out between Spyderco and Tim Wegner. Can anybody shed any light on this?

Some knives sell, some knives don't. Part of Spyderco's ability to innovate constantly is their willingness to drop knives from the line-up from time to time.

But Blade-Tech now sells their own versions of the Wegner and of his Mouse.

I have 1 large PE, 2 large CE, 1 small PE, & 2 small CE Wegners. If Spyderco would bring them back, I'd buy even more!
IMHO,they are best knifes ever.

I've always wanted one and never had the cash handy when I saw them. Now I never see them. :grumpy:

It's one of my favorite liner locks. It's a close call between that and the Starmate. For me the Starmate fits my hand a bit better. I got these two knives around the same time. I need to pick up a Military someday.

Philuk: I have to admit I am tempted to get another Wegner as well. Maybe a serrated version...guess my wife wouldn't buy that argument.

What I would like is to find a new plane edge Wegner Junior. That sounds like a righteous quest. Any leads out there?
