Weight specs?

Is there a specific reason Busse and Kin don't list the weight of their knives? With how quickly knives sell out during operation 2 weeks I think it would be awesome to have a general idea of the weight of the knives to help make the decision to buy them. I did not realize the Chophouse would be so light, if I knew that when they were for sale I may have had to buy one. I was surprised at how light my basic 8CG was when I got it. I would also be curious to see how much the Team Gemini P weighed compared to my Rodent 9, because something about the TGP is calling to me.

The additional pictures when the new knives are released have been great (especially the comparison pics) and I know for me a weight spec would help me make a decision about buying some of these knives. Would anyone else benefit from the weight of these new knives being listed? Would it be possible for Busse to list the weight of the knives when they are for sale?

I would appreciate seeing an approximate weight listed. I would also like to get a picture with an object of known size or an in hand picture to help me get a better idea of what is being offered. The glamour shots a great, but provide limited info.

All of us blade nerds really do NEED to know the weight of any typical knife when purchasing. That being said I have more than a couple BUSSE blades on order and I really don't care as long as it's infi. Something about having the blade in hand that says more than any specs ever could. :) - my ¢2

You are not the first to ask for weights on new knives. It comes up in almost every new knife intro thread. It is certainly possible for Jerry and Co. to take more pics and post the weight; but apparently they choose not to. Who knows why? It's Jerry's universe, we just play in it.

Pictures next to an object of known size or an in hand picture would be great!

Having the blade in hand is the best way to go because sometimes the specs can be deceiving. If I could order every blade that came up during operation two weeks I would but right now I am not in that position. Having an approximate weight would just help me make a decision, especially with how fast all of these blades have been coming out lately.

I would hesitate to publish weights too. The reason being that you may make a buy/no buy choice based on the weight alone, however the balance of a given knife will largely affect its perceived weight. Buy one if you think you may like it, see how it fits your body, and if you don't like it you can always flip it on the Xchange.

They used to, sometime after the black & white back of a magazine ad era up to as recently as the cupidganzaaaa last year and it was very helpful to being a fully disclosed/informed consumer. The specs with weight was exactly why I DID buy a FFG MOABolo in the 4 digit price range as it was longer & thicker than an NMFBM yet similar in weight to the .28 versions. I don't see how weight specs would prevent a sale, heck I've bought almost everything from a few ounces up to the 3 lb range in INFI so far with the specs known just to try them out and I doubt I am unique in that. ;)

Plus, it helps to know how many you can order vs how much reinforcing your floor under your storage will be needed to prep for taking delivery. :p

I wondered if there might be an issue publishing the weights on these Op 2 weeks offers since when the run is pre-sold they just have a prototype or production sample and don't want to quote something and have the actual run end up using slightly different specs or stock and ending up lighter or heavier than quoted.

That is easily remedied by use of the word "approximate" since we all should know g10 adds weight over micarta & each blank might be ground slightly different. :)

Yeah, a lot of the specs they do give are "approx" anyway, so I guess my guess is probably wrong, lol.

Back to drinking... :D

My first guess would be that weight is, imo, Busse's biggest weakness in general, meaning that most of them are heavier knives than most other brands.

I myself have a hard time pulling the trigger on some because of the weight. I wish they made a Light Brigade version of most models.

I have yet to find any weakness in a Busse Blade, I like them heavy-If you are looking for a lightweight Busse check out the Busse Basic series-tough and lightweight

I like seeing new models next to older known models. The BGWTH is shown next to the ASH. I understand that not everyone has had the opportunity to handle the older models but it helps me make a decision personally.

As for weight, once you get to a boss jack or bigger it becomes a significant percentage of weight for long hikes. Sure there are ultralight guys that hike the AC with just a SAK, and if you want a light fixed blade, you good do worse than a sog seal pup, but I like the idea of having something bomb proof. Beyond that I just like Busse blades and have to figure that into my packing.

Op 2 week blades seem to have a 3 day life span give or take a day.

Actually now that I'm thinking about weight I'd really like to pick up an anorexic B4 le.

Weakness as in how heavy they are in general, which would hurt sales if directly stated, I guess.

On the other hand, not posting the weight makes some people actively look for it, but I guess it's a minority.

Regardless of how well balanced a knife is in hand, weight perception is not relative when you're carrying it in the sheath, soof course that stops some people from buying some Busse knives, including myself.

If INFI is so much more capable I dont get why there aren't many thin Busses that could perform as well as thicker blades, given that they're not choppers, of course.

For example a thin Boss Jack or a thin SAR

These EDC types all range from 3.5 oz for the bottom two up to 6.5 oz max as pictured. Really can't go wrong with any of them. ;)

A size reference picture and the weight would be very helpful. I prefer to make an informed decision... Going on a guess is not always an option

I too appreciate any additional pictures when provided. I'd also really like it if an approximate weight was provided. Well-informed decision and all that.
