This imported no-name weighs 248g [5 in. closed], Lone Wolf T3 comes in at 298g, Al Mar SERE 2K weighs 171g, most cheap folders fall in the range of 150g, it's boggling my mind how can this import be so heavy at a cost of $10.00?

They use depleted uranium for the liners? That's my worst guess.

I have A rough Rider which has a very thick handle made of metal. Probably because its crap steel, and therefore needs to be thick. I have another crap knife which has also a very thick handle.
Yours looks similar, I bet all that metal weighs a lot.

Because the steel comes from recycled yankee cars which are also grossly overweight :D

cheaper materials and cheaper material costs in general. but i dont see the appeal of a heavy 10 dollar knife sorry

So you mean to say cheaper materials are heavier?

.... there is no appeal, I am basically trying to find out about the composition of this knife for my general knowledge.
The box it came in had no hard information on it whatsoever.

Both knives use less metal in the handle then your cheap knife and metal is heavy.
And maybe those more expensive knives are drilled out and have holes in the metal liners.

The Kid is probably right. looks like slabs of metal with holes drilled out or maybe the lost children laborers are coming back in the form of inexpensive china knive. imagine each kid is coming back as one knife...its hard to fit 60 lbs of flesh and bone into a knife.

Handle materials compared:
Steel and wood, used on cheaper pieces=heavy.
Titanium, Aluminum, and CF/G-10/Micarta, used on more expensive pieces=light.

Also, on cheaper knives there is typically less refinement and machine work done to lighten the piece, like skeletonization for example. So, yes, a cheaper knife will typically weight more than a very well made piece.

now here I was thinking it was from those 1000 yugo's and mini's that was needed to just make the blade; not to metnion the 10,000 more smart cars needed to make the liners and scales.:D
