I just had a random thought. Do all knife steels weigh the same? Does a piece of 10mm3 (cubed) in 1095 weigh the same as S35vn, 3V, Magnacut etc etc?

No. Because different steels have different ingredients, they do not weigh the same. Will the human hand notice the difference? Probably not.

With 13% tungsten (almost twice as dense as lead), I suspect Maxamet will be one of the denser steel alloys.

Even so, my Maxamet/G10 Spyderco PM2 weighs only 0.06 ounces more than the same knife in M4 (5.5% tungsten) with "fat carbon" scales (4.07 oz. versus 4.01 oz.) ...
