I was at a flea market the other day looking for knives to buy(no good ones), when I found this jacket. I like the tigerstripe pattern, but what really interested me in this particular jacket was the tag. I wasn't aware Buck ever made clothes; I have found nothing on this, is it fake?

(edited photos, they show up in the preview; thanks Lodd)

Photobucket doesn't allow hotlinking on forums unless you pay them buckets of money. Try using imgur instead.

Very cool. I too have never heard of Buck having a clothing line but if you think about it, hunting/camo/Buck. I could see it.

Nice score. Lucky find. They still sell t shirts and hats, not that big of a stretch to think they had a clothing line at one time.

I hope somebody knows the history of it, beeing Military it could have a tie in with the Buck master knife?

That's a Vietnam era, in country only, pattern (referred to as Tiger Stripe). However it still remains popular among some hunters and VN era vets. OH

Here's Tiger Stripe that I picked up 'in country', there's is a difference in the patterns, but I'm sure that it's what Buck wanted to replicate. The shirt I've worn and it's faded, but the pants haven't been worn and look pretty much the same after 45+ years. Preston

Preston, weren't those ARVN issue uniforms that some US troops adopted? OH
Ps Hope you are faring as well over the last 45+ years as your uniform has!

Thanks OH, I'm doing fine. I'm not sure about the ARVN, but, the Popular Forces in our district, in the Delta, wore these. Preston

Buck has had clothing for years. I've purchased my kids and wife caps & hoodies as far back as 2006. That jacket was before the move to ID. 2002. DM

Preston, bless your heart that you can still wear them. I grew out of mine about a week after discharge.:)

Pete, rolling away now....

Ha, Pete, I could've worn the pants back then, not now! The shirt, like me is faded and retired years ago. Preston

BUCK dabbled in a lot of sidelines over the years. BCCI members can find a 1988 BUCK apparel catalog on the website. BUCK also had a short lived archery line (Champion Bows of Canada), Darts, and the Workman product line included leather tool belts. There is a BUCK tool belt on the auction site right now posted by one of our forum members. The story behind Champion Bows going defunct is an interesting read. My recollection is they got screwed over a patent infringement suit over use of a single cam pulley. I find one on the bay once in awhile but the shipping has always been prohibitive. /Roger

Pretty cool blouse! I had no idea...

I thought about picking up the Buck nail pouch to use for trap shooting. (Of course now that I’ve said that here someone else will snatch it up for that purpose..lol)

I've never seen Buck clothing other than their hats.
Nice score, if only you could find the matching pants.
Btw this isn't a jacket, but a shirt.

Awesome uniform! I have always heard tiger stripe was a great pattern for camouflage, though not necessisarily intended in the design.

Apparently modern research has shown grey is the hardest colour for the human eye to pick up (much harder than black, which the human eye actually is drawn to as dark pure blacks are rare in nature) and so the grey stripes did a great job of breaking up a man’s silhouette.
